Where there’s a need there’s a Lion.
Newbury Lions Club is part of the worldwide association Lions Clubs International, which was established in 1917 with the sole purpose of serving the local community. Our club was established in 1970 and has been serving the community in Newbury and surrounding areas for 55 years.
There is no restriction on those we help, accepting requests from all sections of the community via a third-party referral. We can help quickly where needed without any lengthy application process and will consider supporting where statutory agencies cannot
We also take referrals from statutory agencies or those who work with families and are aware of their circumstances, such as school liaison officers or Citizen’s Advice.

Sadly we have been unable to find a date this year to reschedule Speen Fete, We just do not have enough volunteers on any given date to ensure the safe running of the event!
We will be back next year so keep an eye open Spring 2026 for the confirmation of the date.

After taking advice, it is with a heavy heart we are cancelling tomorrow's fete.
The threat of torrential thundery rain with strong gusts of wind makes it a high safety risk for those involved with running the event and stalls and also the safety of the public attending.
We hope you understand our decision was not taken lightly.
We are looking to reschedule and will keep you informed!
Thank you for your understanding and support as you can imagine as a small club a lot of work has gone into this and we are heartbroken at having to make this choice.

This is a warning! There are some unscrupulous people pretending to be involved with Speen fete and posting on our page telling people to PM them then offering them a stall at £75!

We are really counting down to Saturday!
Did you know there will be loads of charity stalls and retail stalls for you to enjoy! Either a local charity or a local independent business, so you are supporting our local economy and our local community having a go at games or buying from these stalls!

(We are now fully booked for stalls so sorry please don't ask for stall space.. just get in early for next year!)

Just over a week to go!
Fingers crossed for dry weather!
There will be so much to enjoy, from the return of the bucking bronco to crockery smashing and children's races. Music to listen to whilst having a cup of tea and a cake (or maybe a glass of something!) Magical mayhem, bouncy castles Ice-cream and sweets!
Lots of lovely local independent retail stalls to browse and local charity stalls to support! And the chance to admire some Italian super cars!

Only two weeks until the fete, but today and tomorrow we are focusing on the Annual Duck Race!
You can get tickets today in Newbury at our stall in Newbury market or tomorrow in Victoria Park until just before the race starts! 🦁

We have the wonderful East Woodhay Silver Band playing for us at the fête!
Straight after their huge success at the Newbury Spring Festival
Aren't we lucky!
Come and have a cup of tea, a slice of cake and listen to some wonderful music!

At last some rain for our poor dry gardens and for our local farmers, but let's hope it doesn't rain on June 7th for the fete!
Did you know that as well as Music from East Woodhay Silver Band, food, (Lions Club of Newbury) and Magic (Courtesy of Mr. Muddle's Magical Mayhem) There will be lots of charity stalls there with games and gifts so you can help support a good cause whilst having a good time!
