Newbury Skatepark

This is on Newbury and Thatcham page, please encourage everyone to keep it clean …..”I was skating at the newbury skatepark early Saturday morning on my own and got chatting to the council worker cleaning up all the rubbish produced from the night before.

Apparently the council is getting fed up of the amount of rubbish being produced there on a daily basis and are starting to think about potentially closing it or fencing it off.

This is purely from the chap that was picking up the rubbish.

He was telling me sometimes there are smashed bottles etc in the main bowl.

Just a reach out to all those that make use of it to make use of the bins literally right next to it.

Be a real shame to lose such a great skate park.

As a skater of 45 years old and now my son getting into it please keep this place cool as its a real gem .

🤘” so in short clean up after yourselves or if you see someone making a mess tell them to clean up or pick up what you can, if the park gets shut because idiots can’t look after the space it’ll be closed down and no idea how long for

Monday boys and girls we can go back to using the park (not heard from the council) but if 11 men are allowed to chase a leather bag of wind around I can’t see why we can’t ride, stay safe all

As tomorrow is the first step towards being allowed to get back to a normal (for us) life skater boy Brad has asked the council if the park is back open or not and waiting to hear back from them, hopefully it’s the end of being fined for having a hobby, I’ll let you know ASAP what the news is

Just a quick reminder lads and ladettes the park is closed to public use we’ve had the police issue fines to a few people already, by all means ride if you want but they are watching and making phat stacks of cash x
