Immerse yourself in the enchantment and history of Christmas at Shaw House. Be among the first to see the House beautifully decorated for the festive season and wander through its stunning historic rooms, each reflecting a different chapter in the House's four-century history.

As darkness falls, experience Shaw House in a way rarely seen by visitors. Explore the beautifully dressed rooms by evening light, with festive decorations, warm illumination and seasonal atmosphere throughout the House, creating a truly magical start to the Christmas season.

Your ticket includes entry to the House, along with a hot drink and a mince pie from our café.

The year is 1544 and King Henry, the Eighth of that name, is engaged upon Royal Progress about his Realm; and has halted here to afford his Loyal Subjects the opportunity to have 'audience' with their Sovereign Lord and King.

The King, recently married to his new, and sixth, wife, Queen Catherine Parr, is in poor health; his leg continues to cause him considerable pain and he is often in a poor humour!

In the course of the 'audience', His Majesty will recount the events of his long reign; telling of his wives and his children, and His Majesty will invite his Loyal Subjects to Petition him or question him on ANY related subject : there may be some surprising answers - a lively Q&A is assured!

Calling all young witches, wizards, and magical creatures… The Shaw House School of Enchantment will be opening its doors once again!

Discover your school house, create spooky crafts in the Great Hall and test your magic skills with family friendly games.

Plus, trick or treating and a spellbinding story time to round up the evening.
Saturday 31 October | Doors open 6pm. Event: 6.20pm – 8.30pm | £8 per child, one
accompanying adult free. Additional adults £2 each.

We invite you to join us for a spooky show! The Pumpkin King and Halloween Ragdoll will delight young audiences with a fun sing-a-long, themed games and story time. There will also be plenty of time at the end to take photographs.

Join us for a special Family Activity Day at Shaw House!

The Scarecrows’ Wedding by Julia Donaldson and illustrator Axel Scheffler is a firm family favourite and we’ll be making one of the scarecrows (Harry, Betty or villainous Reginald Rake) in this fun craft including a craft roll, wool, wiggle eyes, paper and a variety of craft materials.

Shaw House | Wednesday 28 October | 10am-2pm | £2.50

An adult must remain with the child. Drop-in between 10am and 2pm, no need to book. Last entry 15 minutes before the end time. Please dress for mess!

Join us for our next Movie in the Hall where we'll be showing James and the Giant Peach.

James is an orphan who is sent to live with his wicked aunts. One day a strange man tells him that a marvellous thing will happen and his life will start to change. James escapes in a giant peach and his animated adventures with new friends begin.
The café will be open serving cinema sweets and treats.
