As the fire warms my toes, the nibbles fill my belly & the hot chocolate soothes my soul, may I take a moment to wish each & every one of you a most wonderful New Year's Eve & a magnificent 2023. A stunning early trip to town.. frost kissed landscape, the smell of the fires in homes & on boats, the bustling market & all to get some fresh eucalyptus for the house & fresh bakes for our bellies.. now for a sit down to soak in the scents before I start cleaning up, clearing out & stacking more logs 🥰 I haven't had time to paint anything new though am working on 4 that need finishing ☺️ juggling work, rest & art is a challenge & one I just go with the flow of - not pressuring myself or racing, just enjoying the ride.. so have a good weekend everyone, do what makes you happy, brings you peace & makes you smile 💛

Throw back to when I painted this gorgeous landscape a few months ago. I was completely lost in it for 8 hours - just didn't stop. I love it when art takes me that way, I also love it when pieces build over time, but there's something quite special to me about falling deeply into it, only to come up for air & see what's emerged, something so exhaustingly peaceful about it ☺️

Spending a few hours travelling by train I tend to spend it looking through all the beautiful art that you all create - always makes my day start with a smile, I also spend it missing being in my studio, wondering which of the numerous unfinished pieces I'll get to next & most of all appreciating what I've created so far.. so whilst I may be slowing in my creativity right now I know it's there, I know I'll have time soon & reflecting on pieces I have loved painting brings me so much joy.. this dinner plate dahlia was a huge leap for me a few months ago, took me 3hrs (mainly in procrastinating finishing the middle!) & so pleased with how it turned out. Have an amazing Tuesday everyone 🥰

On my way for my new 1st day it's exciting, though I know my creativity will have to now slow to ensure that I can still make time to paint & love it, & not burn myself trying to juggle both work & my passion. I had planned to finish 4 paintings before today, but I seems to be doing a tone of paperwork, laundry & finding my work clothes ☺️ ah well, best laid plans & all that.. going with the flow x

Aww pants! - I've lost the light for today, just as I was getting back into it.. had a wobble earlier of "what the hell am I doing painting birds!" then just laughed at my self & got stuck in 😄 I am absolutely loving the intricacy, the colours - especially against something already blue & just the utter beauty of this bird!
