Today’s pic of me at a skate park looking pretty much like my standard self in the ’90s — which turned out to be the perfect way to conduct a ’90s choir workshop. 😂
The choir absolutely smashed it, but what touched me most was their team spirit.
We found ourselves stranded, waiting for our usual venue to open… only to discover they’d forgotten us, and no one was answering the phone. This could have been really stressful. But somehow, it just… wasn’t.
The choir came up trumps. Suddenly we were all walking to a skate park I’d never set foot in before, setting up, and just going for it.
And honestly? It was brilliant.
Smells like teen spirit? More like smells like team spirit. 😉

“Work, work… with a little bit of soul now.” 🎶✨ This warm up song from yesterday’s workshop captures exactly what a choir is about.

It’s the work and the soul. The discipline and the joy. The individual voices and what happens when they become one.

I LOVED workshopping with this brilliant lot yesterday - they worked hard but wow did they bring the soul!

The sign of a good choir isn’t perfect harmony—it’s trust.

It’s knowing everyone is willing to be fully ‘in’: meeting each other as equals, leaving hierarchy at the door, and creating a space where there’s no fear of being mocked or judged. Instead, there’s encouragement, acceptance, and the freedom to let go.

Yesterday, we added a little line dance to our singing, and it reminded me just how therapeutic shared experiences can be. Singing together, moving together, laughing together—it wasn’t about getting every step right. It was about connection.

When people feel safe enough to show up wholeheartedly, something really special happens. ❤️🎶
