There are a couple of my photos used here in this article. Even though I’m more or less retired now from photography, I’ll still dust the camera off for a worthy cause. Annoyingly Kent live didn’t credit me for my photos, but that’s not unusual these days!!

I’ve never worn make up. Well, not Revlon or Maybeline or any of that stuff anyway!!
Chuffed to have a small part in a horror movie. Those that know me well, know how much I love horrors!
The film is called HELLOWEEN. It’s written by Phil Claydon who made the comedy horror Le***an Vampire Killers.
This is released in America already and comes to the UK on Bluray end of September!

I am really looking forward to this film, not only because a couple of people I know are in it, but I love a bloody good horror movie!!
It will be released on October 6th, I’m counting down the days!..

I was thinking today (yeah, I know - dangerous!) I was thinking, how many musicians I have known over the years and how many of those make their own music but just can’t get a break. Quality songs, great lyrics and beautiful musicianship, yet no one seems to give two hoots?! I pondered, maybe they don’t like the songs, but this vexed me as I love them and I’m quite picky about what I’ll listen to.
It then occurred to me, if these artists are not signed and their songs are not played on the radio or in films, then most likely, the only way people get to hear these songs is online. And most people go online using a mobile phone or tablet, both of which have tiny little speakers and a very basic EQ.
A musician spends hours upon hours recording a song. Adding little touches of instrumentation and meticulously mixing the tracks, people then listen on a phone and quite frankly all of that work has gone to waste because it’s not reproduced as cleanly on a mobile phone, through its speakers.
It’s ok listening to a band like Queen or ABBA etc on a phone because you’ve heard the songs before played loud on good equipment, so you already know it’s great.
When an artist puts a song up, try to play it through a sound system, give it the respect it deserves. I always try to have my first listen in my car, it’s quadrophonic and I can then really appreciate the work that has gone into the song. If the internet is THE ONLY place musicians can ply their trade, isn’t it an awful shame that people dismiss it because it doesn’t sound that good, when really it’s a great song, just played through inferior equipment.

I wrote this song in 2016. I wasn’t coping too well with life, still grieving and wrestling other demons. I hated the way I felt and how badly it was hampering my life. Only really had one person to talk to, but she wasn’t very empathetic and that was the first time I realised just how alone I was.
Depression is a terrible affliction and often misunderstood. I was accused of “wallowing” and “attention seeking “ when in reality, I desperately wanted the complete opposite. I wanted to function normally, I wanted to work and socialise, and attention was the last thing I wanted, I felt so ashamed.
Thankfully that is all well behind me now and Depression is not allowed any room in my life. It takes a lot of self care, discipline and patience to come out from that fug, you can’t really rely on others, they don’t understand. I can listen to the words now and be thankful I didn’t let it take me.
My good friend Alex recorded this for me and I cobbled a little video together. I hope you like the the song, but moreover, I hope my situation gives you some hope. It doesn’t have to always be that way… Love and care for yourself. X
