For generations, trains have carried passengers through New Romney Station. On Wednesday 17 June, it will also be welcoming mosaic makers.

For one day, you can pull up a chair, pick up some tiles and create a mosaic brick that will become part of a permanent public artwork celebrating Romney Marsh & Hythe.

Create a sheep. A steam train. A seaside memory. A favourite place. Or simply let your imagination take over. Every brick is different, and every brick helps tell the story of our community.

Moon-gazing hares, woodland foxes and sculptures that look as though they’ve wandered straight out of a storybook ✨

In this full-day workshop, you’ll learn how to create your own striking animal sculpture from the ground up, shaping and building a beautiful piece finished with a rich bronze-like effect.

Gentle curves, textured surfaces and expressive features slowly emerge as your sculpture begins to develop its own personality — whether inspired by elegant hares, curious foxes, birds or creatures from your own imagination.

The techniques used are designed to feel approachable and enjoyable for complete beginners, making sculpting feel creative, relaxed and surprisingly achievable while still producing beautifully detailed results.
