4 weeks to go! Getting excited about seeing the show up again! We’re all working hard to make this a great production!

This town has a fantastic history and has been to home of many interesting and important people. The most interesting people live down our streets. The workers, the garden gate philosophers, the house wives and the children. Tell the story of Birkenhead and you tell the story of the people. Down Our Street is full of Birkenhead memories and I’m updating the show to tell the story of the yard, and Birkenhead right up to the present day. When I was 8, this gentleman, Greg Williams, came to our school and taught my class music. A few years later I was on a course at Wirral Met - he was the course leader. Greg Williams encouraged me to write my first play/operetta and, at the age of 17, it toured local schools. I’ve worked for and with Greg over the years and am made up that he and his band will be joining us for Down Our Street this year. Greg’s well known and I’ve never heard a bad word said about him. 40 odd years have passed since the music class at St. Werburgh’s School!!! It’s always a pleasure to work with a true life long friend and mentor! Can’t wait. Brian🙂🍺

Here’s our writer and producer Brian McCann. Brian has been working hard to bring Down Our Street right up to date including the launch of The Sir David Attenborough. Coincidentally, in 1997, Brian was asked to write and perform a song for the launch of the IMAX film Survival Island, narrated by Sir David at the National Museum of Photography, Film and Television in Bradford. The performance was enjoyed by the television legend and made to local news. Let’s hope Sir DA will enjoy Down Our Street!

Merseyside actress and Floral favourite Lynne Fitzgerald joins our fantastic cast for Down Our Street return.

Actress Lynne Fitzgerald has been signed once again to appear in Down Our Street. Lynne has been part of the cast in the last two outings of the show and is a favourite with audiences across the region. As a writer, director and producer, the well loved actress has scored many successes with her unique brand of comedy. Our director, Brian McCann says ‘it’s great to have Lynne back, she’s a versatile performer who brings a lot of comedy to the show!’
Lynne joins the already fantastic line up with Tina Malone, Billy Butler Lesley Butler & Asa Murphy in what is promising to be a great production of our well loved musical.

A little teaser. They said if, as an artiste, you got to perform at the Argyle Theatre, Birkenhead, then the next move was the Palladium in London. All the big Music Hall stars of the day performed there. The Argyle is celebrated as Birkenhead's story unfolds in DOWN OUR STREET.

Lesley Butler is coming back Down Our Street

We’re so please that Merseyside Favourite, Lesley Butler is returning for this run of our popular show. Les says she can not wait to be a part of DOS..once again.

The much loved actress appeared in it at the Royal court alongside the late Micky Finn who used to bring sweets in every night in a box so Lesley nicknamed Micky the candy man..shes really looking forward to returning to the floral..for the 2nd time..’rehearsals are always a scream i dont know how poor Brian puts up with us! however, Brian has the last laugh as I’ll be looking after my husband Billy back stage with costume changes as 2yrs ago Billy waltzed onto stage dressed as the King when he shouldve been Charlie Chaplin🤣
Lesley started her acting career i n the Everyman youth theatre and is very vesatile playing many different acting roles..she has gone on to do countless plays pantos and musicals and is currently on tour with Asa Murphys musical Buddy Holly..so why not pop along to the Floral ....she will love to take you all for a stroll.. Down Our Street.

Lesley is the latest addition to our fabulous cast including Tina Malone, Asa Murphy and of course Lesley’s husband Billy Butler
