ONLY JOKING!

Before anyone starts looking skyward for the next performance slot… yes, it was an April Fools’ joke. No live recordings are being launched into space just yet.

But while we may be staying firmly here on Earth, we would love to see you at one of our performances during the year.

If you are looking for live music for a summer event, Christmas celebration, or another special occasion, please do get in touch. Briton Ferry Silver Band is always pleased to bring brass band music to audiences a little closer to home.

Keep an eye on our page for upcoming engagements and we hope to see you soon!

We are delighted to announce that Briton Ferry Silver Band has been selected to have one of our live recordings played in space as part of a new initiative exploring how music from Earth might be shared beyond our planet.

The project is said to be aimed at introducing the sound of traditional brass band music to whatever life may exist out there, a thought we find both humbling and exciting in equal measure.

To think that the sound of Briton Ferry Silver Band could travel beyond Earth is a truly remarkable idea, and we are proud to play a small part in such an unusual and historic venture.

Further details will be announced soon.

We’re delighted to have come away with a respectable 4th place at the Welsh Regional Championships today. We were proud of the performance today from every single member of the band, particularly our soloists!

A massive well done to all the bands who competed today. Special congratulations to City of Cardiff Melingriffith Brass Band Organisation, Cwmtawe Brass and Ynyshir Brass Band 👏

Thank you to everyone who came along to support us and to all who’ve been sending messages of encouragement. We really appreciate all your support!

We’ll enjoy today, but the hard work doesn’t stop here. Onwards and upwards, Briton Ferry! 🎶

Today’s the day! 🎺

We are proud and excited to be representing Briton Ferry at the Welsh Regional Championships at the magnificent Brangwyn Hall, Swansea, as part of the National Brass Band Championships of Great Britain regional qualifiers.

Our band has been working hard in rehearsals and we can’t wait to take the stage today!

We want to send a huge good luck to every band competing this weekend. Welsh banding at its finest! 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

If you’re in Swansea, come along and show your support, and if you can’t make it, keep an eye out for results later today! 🤞

Let’s go, Briton Ferry! 🎶

We came together on 15th February for our Annual General Meeting to look back on an excellent 2025, and to set the stage for 2026

A particular highlight was our MD Jeff presenting Elodie with an award for being our most improved player this year

Elodie hasn’t just improved technically, but has gained so much confidence. Our back row cornets are so important to the band, and having regular attendees in those seats who are confident players is helping everyone. Playing a solo in front on a large audience in St David’s Church was also a particular highlight that Jeff wanted to acknowledge.

Well done Elodie! We’re proud of you, so keep going 👏👏👏

Congratulations Carys! 🥳

Congratulations Carys! 🥳

Introducing our final finalist from the British Army Band Tidworth and Band of the Prince of Wales solo competition, Musn Carys Wilkinson.

Musn Wilkinson was born in Port Talbot, South Wales, and began playing music at the age of 10 with her local brass band, Briton Ferry Silver Band.

Her first instrument was the tenor horn, before progressing to baritone and later trombone. She was inspired to join the military by her father, who served in the Welsh Guards, and recognised that a career as a military musician was the perfect way to combine her passions for both music and sport.

Outside of music, Musn Wilkinson has represented Wales Women's National Football at youth level and currently plays football for the Army. She is also a keen triathlete and has previously competed in rugby and ice hockey.

Musn Wilkinson is really looking forward to performing the euphonium classic Varied Mood by Ray Woodfield.

🎄 Briton Ferry Community Christmas Tree Singalong 2025 🎄

Now in its 5th year, our much‑loved community tradition returns once again!

I’m very pleased to announce the much‑anticipated return of:

✨ Carols Around the Community Tree ✨

Join us on the Eve of Christmas Eve – Tuesday 23rd December at 6.15pm
📍at The Q-ube - Briton Ferry

Featuring Briton Ferry’s very own:
🎺 Briton Ferry Silver Band
&
🎶 Llansawel Community Choir

Due to the recent events, and many people battling winter sniffles, we’ve decided that this year’s event will take place indoors in the warmth of The Q‑ube.
Whilst it’s not our usual setting around the Community Tree, after the challenges of recent weeks we felt it best to prioritise comfort, safety, and a dry, welcoming space for everyone.

It’s COMPLETELY FREE ENTRY and everyone is welcome.
Enjoy FREE mince pies and mulled wine as we come together for a festive singalong.

Let’s make this year’s gathering the biggest and warmest yet.
See you there, Briton Ferry.

Gareth
