Nantwich Food Festival is nearly here—and Beyond Canvas will be open on Sunday for a rather different kind of treat.

Our monthly Art Sundae offers a relaxed opportunity to step away from the festival crowds, browse original and limited-edition art, and discover the changing work presented through PAUSE.

Friday 4 September — 10am–4pm
Saturday 5 September — 10am–4pm
Sunday 6 September — 10am–2pm

WE'RE PAUSING PAUSE...
..for just one more week.

After yesterday's extraordinary rainfall caused some water to find its way into the shop, and with more unsettled weather forecast across the Bank Holiday weekend, I've decided to postpone our inaugural ART ON SUNDAY event.

The good news?
We're moving it to Sunday 6 September — right in the middle of Nantwich Food Festival.

PAUSE will be installed and ready to discover throughout the festival weekend, with our first dedicated ART ON SUNDAY opening from 10am–5pm.*

Sometimes even PAUSE needs a pause.

“Do you sell art prints?”

Yes—although Beyond Canvas presents them rather differently these days.

Before last year’s makeover, prints filled almost every available space in the shop. Today, it is a calmer working showroom, with room to explore framing choices alongside a changing selection of original and limited-edition art.

That selection will continue to develop through PAUSE, our Featured Artist Programme, bringing new artists, exhibitions and events into the shop.

The art hasn’t disappeared. It has simply been given more room to be discovered.

These Michelin-starred restaurant menus mark special celebrations shared by one customer with his wife and family.

Each was given a bespoke arrangement, with carefully cut apertures and double mounts reflecting the restaurant’s own stationery and colours. Alphamat Black mountboard and gloss-black frames bring the individual pieces together as one confident collection.

The finished pictures hold far more than menus: each preserves the memory of a treasured occasion shared with someone special.

A toddler, a bathroom wall and the contents of a potty: one of two original Alex Calder paintings arrived with a more eventful history than most.

Thankfully, the artwork survived. The collector brought the pair to Beyond Canvas for a new presentation that would complement their bold colours and late-1960s/early-1970s character.

The old framing was replaced with warm Sahara mounts, characterful Havana Worn Black frames from LION Picture Framing Supplies, and conservation UV glass from

The result feels brighter, more confident and entirely in keeping with the paintings’ mid-century aesthetic—while placing that memorable domestic mishap safely in the past.

At six feet by five feet, this original Clint Eastwood canvas required more than a basic stretcher frame.

Seasonal changes in temperature and humidity cause timber to expand and contract. At this scale, insufficient support can lead to distortion and a loss of canvas tension.

Using professional stretcher-bar profiles from , we built a well-braced internal frame, carefully stretched the canvas and made it ready for the wall. Once its owner’s decorating is complete, it can return for a decorative outer frame.

Belt and braces for Clint: this canvas didn’t need to feel lucky—it needed structure.

Beyond Canvas is deep in the transfer market again—transferring signed shirts and special football memories from wardrobes into properly presented wall displays.

Framing a shirt well, takes time. The fabric must be carefully shaped, supported and secured without damage, while a shadow mount keeps it safely separated from the glass.

These yellow shirts were finished with matte-black shadow mounts, clear glass and deep, flat-black frames from LION Picture Framing Supplies ( )The contrast really makes them come alive.
