ARE YOU A STUDENT ALTO, TENOR OR BASS SINGER?

Two years ago we launched our choral award for a promising young local singer. Since then we have been delighted to welcome two students to join our music making.

As a well-established South Cheshire chamber choir with a reputation for high standards of performance, the Nantwich Singers are keen to encourage young people to develop and extend their choral experience. We are now looking for another alto, tenor or bass aged between 18 and 28, who is in full or part-time education, for our bursary award.

What we offer:
A £500 bursary award for 2026/27 season, or pro rata.
An exciting and varied programme of choral music ranging from the sixteenth century to the present day.
Weekly term-time rehearsals/training led by our Musical Director Susan Marrs on Tuesday evenings (7.15pm) at St Mary's Church, Nantwich.
6 - 7 concerts per year, held in a variety of notable venues around Cheshire and Staffordshire.
Solo opportunities for the right candidate.

We are looking for:
A good alto, tenor or bass voice with some sight-reading skills. Someone with an interest in expanding their choral experience and contributing to a friendly and enthusiastic team of singers.
A commitment to regular term-time rehearsals.

In case you missed us at St Alban's Tattenhall, there’s another chance to hear us this week - at St Mary’s Nantwich - 12.30pm on Thursday 2nd July - in the Summer Lunchtime Concert series.

"Folksongs and Fancies" is a light-hearted programme of summery music, including Lucy Walker’s sumptuous “Give me your stars”, commissioned by Voces8 for their 20th anniversary last year, "The Road Home" by Paulus, "Ching-a-Ring-Chaw" by Copeland, Vaughan Williams' "The Turtle Dove", and Gershwin’s exuberant and sultry “Summertime” from Porgy and Bess. Full programme below. Admission is free, and there is a retiring collection in aid of the church. We would love to see you on Thursday!

It is always a good sign when we run out of programmes. We had certainly underestimated the goodwill and faith of the people of Tattenhall to part with good money and turn up to a concert given by a choir they had probably never heard of before. It is another good sign when the homemade cakes start arriving and the team begin to assemble an impressive teatime display. Fantastic acoustics, a fabulous piano, and a receptive and generous audience all combined to produce a wonderful performance occasion for us. Thank you to everyone on the St Albans team for your kind welcome, exceptional organisation and delectable cakes. We loved our afternoon with you.
