Not long now until our final event before the summer break. Beyond excited to have the incredible joining us on May 3rd as part of her Cryptid tour, which starts next week. Check out her instagram to get a little look at what to expect and to see how she blends her album tracks with live improvisation to create one off performances that absolutely should not be missed. We guarantee that Much Wenlock has never seen anything like this before!

Support comes from the draconic mediaeval EDM, crystal swampcore and deep-fried Digital Middle Age
hyperblackmetalpop stylings of the awesome

I’ll also be providing a set right at the start of the event with my improvised eurorack based gabber and breakcore project Infernal Machines.

Because we have 3 acts the doors will open a little earlier than usual, at 7pm, with the first act at 7:30pm so don’t be late. It’s going to be an amazing evening and will send you dancing off into the summer festival season!

Here it is, all the rest of the events that we have planned for this year. We would have liked to do more but the venue is having some refurbishment over the summer which means we need to take a break while that happens.

First up is our rescheduled Christmas event with the incredible headlining. This is really going to be an exciting way to go into our summer break, with some hard industrial techno ringing out over the town. Support from and myself will ensure this is going to be the most intense night of music Wenlock has seen thus far. Dancing is very much encouraged!

After that we’re back at the end of the year with the usual embarrassment of riches, bringing stunning artists out to the sticks! We’ve got and all gracing the town with their presence. There’s not one event you can miss really as all of them will be bringing something totally different and unusual to the town. Incredibly exciting that we can book artists of this calibre for our humble arts centre! See you all there.

The main man giving an absolutely masterful performance last Saturday. An incredible improvised journey through inner and outer space. This new live set is really something else and definitely something you shouldn’t miss if he’s playing anywhere near you! Totally spellbinding.

It's such a pleasure to be able to mix it up with both renowned live acts like Field Lines Cartographer and amazing up and coming young musicians like Roma. If she's playing a live set near you don't hesitate to go, absolutely brilliant stuff.

Coming in February to Make Much Wenlock Weird is a true master of their craft, Field Lines Cartographer. For 2025 he'll be bringing a new and completely improvised live set, so you know you don't want to miss this one, as it can never be repeated!

There's no rush in Field Lines Cartographer's world, no hurried resolutions or hasty developments, in fact Mark Burford has been meticulously crafting an impeccable body of work that revels in gradual imperceptible shifts and slow-burning realisations for some years now. Burford's music is intensely emotive and unfathomably deep. While the textural detail inherent in all of FLC's work carries through to his jawdropping live show, the performance is mostly stripped back to a couple of hardware synthesisers, effortlessly mixing analogue and digital in a masterclass of restraint and balance, earning him a much-lauded repeat appearance at Levitation festival, a spot at DiN's Tone Science live show at the Capstone Theatre in Liverpool and a performance at the G Livelab in Helsinki. Field Lines Cartographer's work, both recorded and live is enduringly immersive and undeniably skilled, perfectly toeing the line between trickling ambient vignettes and immovable walls of sound, often both at the same time.

Support is provided by Roma Agnihotri, an audio-visual artist whose passion lies in exploring the synergy between sound and visuals. After completing their degree in creative music technology, Roma has created an abstract experimental film series that explores the relationship between sound and non-narrative-based films. Driven by a passion for repurposing and reusing materials, Roma combines reworked samples, circuit bent instruments and found sounds, infusing their films with a distinctive and unconventional sonic landscape. Their work aims to challenge the conventional notions of sound, visuals, and the boundless possibilities they hold.

Our first event of the year tomorrow, with two amazing bands. Set times are here, and each band will be playing ~40m.

One of the great things about putting on events is booking artists who you really love, and this month is no exception. Both of these artists are absolutely fantastic and unique, really epitomising the idea of "New Weird Britain". I'm incredibly happy that I can bring them to the town to make Much Wenlock just that little bit weirder!

Not long now until our next event, and it's going to be just what you need to warm up on these long winter nights. Bringing some light to the darkness are two amazing acts.

Hawthonn is the musical and magical collaboration of Layla and Phil Legard. Born from the underground music scene of Leeds, UK, the duo began in 2014 with a project to encounter the spirit of the musician Jhonn Balance, of the industrial band Coil. This self-titled release was followed by Red Goddess (of the men shall know nothing) (2018) and Earth Mirror (2021), both on the Brooklyn-based label Ba Da Bing. Their dark electronic music draws upon esoteric practices, using improvisation, scrying, dreaming, divination and site-specific working to gain insight and creative inspiration.

Haress are based in the Shropshire Hills, their music is rooted in the feel and tradition of British folk but expands out of any genre boundaries through the use of improvisation, texture and amplification. They intertwine dark and repetitive electric guitar figures to create a hypnotic, mantra-like state, the playing working on a kind of unspoken telepathy until it's impossible for the onlooker to work out which player is responsible for which sound amid the warm, enveloping hum of valve amps.

We really hope you'll join us for this magickal event!

Unfortunately due to circumstances beyond our control we have to cancel tonight. Despite all the venues best efforts they cannot keep the power in the building operation so they have told me that the event cannot go ahead.
This is obviously not what we wanted to happen today and we're absolutely gutted not to bring you the show tonight, but we'll definitely be rescheduling it for the future (hopefully during better weather).

The venue will be in touch with all ticket holders about refunds and rescheduling shortly. Please accept our sincere apologies for this unfortunate outcome
