Some days stay with you forever.
Wednesday was one of those days.
On a windswept Northumberland beach, beneath heavy skies and beside a breathtaking piece of sand art created in remembrance of D-Day, the Allstar Choirs stood shoulder to shoulder with the Boulmer Military Wives Choir to honour those who served and sacrificed
The weather could not have been more fitting. The wind whipped across the shoreline, the sea rolled endlessly behind us, and for a moment it was impossible not to reflect on the courage of those young men who, 82 years ago, crossed those waters into the unknown.
We stood safely on a beach. They landed on one.
As our voices carried across the sand, we remembered not only the lives lost, but the extraordinary bravery, sacrifice and resilience of a generation who gave so much for the freedoms we enjoy today.
It was a humbling experience to be part of such a powerful tribute. Music has a unique way of connecting us to history, to each other, and to emotions that words alone often cannot express. On Wednesday, surrounded by the sea, the artwork, and a community united in remembrance, that connection felt especially profound.
Our heartfelt thanks to SSAFA for inviting us to be part of this truly memorable and momentous occasion. It was a privilege to stand alongside the Boulmer Military Wives Choir and so many others in paying tribute to the courage, sacrifice and service of those who helped shape the world we live in today.
We will remember them
Lest we forget
