🍂✨ WHAT’S HAPPENING AT THE CREATIVE STUDIO THIS SEPTEMBER? ✨🍂

September is here, the summer holidays are over and we’re getting back into our usual routine at The Creative Studio! 🧵🧶✂️

Here’s a little look at what we’ve got going on over the next few weeks…

🧸 AFTERSCHOOL SEWING CLUB

Our afterschool sewers are currently making their very own teddy bears! 🐻

These are such a lovely project for the children — they’re learning lots of sewing skills while creating something they can actually keep and treasure.

We currently have ONE SPACE AVAILABLE ON WEDNESDAYS.

Our afterschool clubs run Monday, Wednesday & Thursday, 3:30–5pm and are suitable for children aged 8+.

🐉 SATURDAY CHILDREN’S SEWING

Our Saturday morning sewing class is fully booked, and the children are starting a very special project…

They’re making our Matcha Dragon! 🐉🍵

This is a Creative Studio exclusive pattern, which we’ve adapted to give it a very Jellycat-inspired look. It’s already proving to be a favourite!

✂️ DRESSMAKING

Our regular dressmaking sessions continue throughout September, with everyone working on their own individual projects.

I love seeing the variety of things being made in these sessions — from complete garments to works in progress, everyone is working at their own pace with help and guidance along the way.

☕🧶 CRAFT & CHAT

Our Craft & Chat sessions continue every:

📅 Tuesday 12–2pm
📅 Wednesday 6–8pm

These are relaxed drop-in sessions, so there’s no need to book.

Just bring along whatever project you’re working on, grab yourself a cup of tea, help yourself to the biscuits and spend a couple of hours crafting and chatting with like-minded people. ❤️

It doesn’t matter whether you’re knitting, crocheting, sewing, embroidering or doing something completely different — everyone is welcome!

🧶 LEARN TO CROCHET – STARTS 8TH SEPTEMBER

Our next 6-week Learn to Crochet course begins on Tuesday 8th September and we still have spaces available!

Rather than trying to teach crochet in one session, this is a six-week course designed to give complete beginners the time and practice they need to properly get to grips with the basics.

If you’ve always wanted to learn but don’t know where to start, this is a great place to begin. 🧶✨

🎄 CHRISTMAS WREATHMAKING

And yes… we’re already thinking about Christmas! 🎄😂

I’ve now uploaded all of our Christmas wreathmaking sessions, with the first workshops beginning in mid-November.

These are always incredibly popular, so if you’d like to make your own beautiful Christmas wreath this year, don’t leave it too late to book!

Our clubs help children develop valuable creative skills, build confidence, improve concentration, and enjoy the satisfaction of making something by hand.

🍂 This autumn term, the children will be creating their very own soft, cuddly teddy bear from start to finish – learning a range of sewing and crafting techniques along the way!

💷 £8 per session

To allow children to complete their project and build their skills, places are booked on a half-term basis.

🧶 Want to learn to crochet? There’s still time to join us! 🧶

Our next Learn to Crochet Course starts in less than TWO WEEKS! ✨

Crochet can feel a little tricky when you’re first starting out. Getting comfortable holding the hook and yarn, maintaining your tension and remembering what all those stitches do takes a little time and practice — which is exactly why we don’t just offer a one-off session!

Our 6-week course gives you the chance to come back each week, build on what you’ve learned and get plenty of support along the way. If something hasn’t quite clicked one week, don’t worry — we’ll be there the following week to help you try again! 💕

We want you to leave feeling genuinely confident in your new skill, rather than trying to cram everything into a few hours and then wondering what to do when you get home!

💙 THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT! 🧵✂️

Today marked the end of another fantastic children’s sewing class at The Creative Studio, and we just wanted to say a huge THANK YOU to all the children (and parents!) who have supported us. 🥰

We’ve loved watching the children learn new skills, gain confidence and, most importantly, have fun making things they can be proud of! 🧵✨

Sewing is about so much more than making something pretty. It helps children develop:

🧠 Concentration & problem-solving – following instructions and working out how pieces fit together
✋ Fine motor skills – threading needles, cutting fabric and controlling the sewing machine
💪 Confidence & independence – learning that they can make something themselves
🎨 Creativity – choosing fabrics, colours and adding their own personal touches
⏳ Patience & perseverance – learning that sometimes things go wrong… and that’s OK!
❤️ A sense of achievement – there’s nothing quite like saying “I made that!”

And, of course, they’re learning a skill they can take with them for life. 🥰

✨ Would you be interested in a Knicker Making Workshop? ✨

This week’s Sewing Bee has us feeling inspired! 🩲💛

We’re thinking about running a fun, beginner-friendly workshop where you’ll learn how to turn old T-shirts into comfy, handmade knickers.

Bring along a selection of old T-shirts, and we’ll provide the elastic and guide you through the whole process. By the end of the session, you’ll have your very own handmade knickers—and some fantastic new sewing skills too!

This is a brilliant way to:
🧵 Learn how to sew with stretch fabrics
✨ Get an introduction to using an overlocker
♻️ Upcycle old T-shirts into something practical and comfortable
😊 Build your confidence sewing with knit fabrics
