Here’s a little snapshot of Sunday through our eyes—a wonderfully random mix of moments that capture the heart of the day. You’ll spot some of our fantastic bands marching proudly down Queen Street, performing their Contest March and Hymn Tune in the precinct, as well as glimpses of our amazing volunteers and adjudicators who helped make it all happen. And of course, the special moment when the Mayor of Morley, Councillor Carol Edwards, presented the prizes.

It was a day full of music, community, and joy—and we’re so grateful to everyone who was part of it.

In the spirit of openness and sincerity, we want to let you know about an administrative error that occurred during the contest results announcement. The award for Best 4th Section Band was mistakenly given to Linthwaite Brass Band, when the rightful winner is Tewit Community Brass.

We truly regret this oversight and understand the disappointment it may have caused. After speaking with both affected bands, and in recognition of their hard work and dedication we’ve made the decision to award the full 4th Section prize money to both bands.

What a fantastic day we had yesterday! The standard of performances was outstanding, and the weather held up—albeit a little blustery!
A huge thank you to all the bands who took part, and a special shout-out to the Tewit Youth Band (Seniors) for providing brilliant pre-results entertainment without music—you were fabulous once again!
And finally, a heartfelt thank you to our amazing adjudicators for the day: Jack Capstaff, Danny Brooks, and Keith Marsden.

ADDED BONUS (unless other breaking news happens) is that we are going to see ITV News there for the first few bands, to be featured on Calendar News later that day! 😃

Programmes are now ready for the weekend and will be available to buy on the day for £1.50 😍. Anyone purchasing one will be entered into a prize draw for a rather large Hamper at the end of the day (worth circa £50).

Thanks to an un-named donor and Geoff Fowler for replacing 4 of these and fixing a few broken bases - its an expensive job, and a first refresh in 17 years!!

📣Not long now before our 17th Annual Morley March Contest takes place on Sunday 22nd June.
We still have space available for a couple more bands, so if you haven't yet entered please do remember that our closing date for entries is Friday 16th May. 👍
