So, it’s been almost 2 weeks since MMD 2026 and I’ve pretty much only just recovered! 🤪

What a fabulous day we had! 💥

THANK YOUS are long overdue so here we go…

(I’d love to name you all personally but that would be bonkers!)

To all the BANDS & SOLO MUSICIANS - who all play for free 🎸
To all the VOLUNTEERS - who offer their time so generously 🥰
To all the SOUND ENGINEERS - who make sure you can hear the magic all the way on the other side of the moor! 🤘
To all the VENUES - they work so very hard and the support from The Horse [Moretonhampstead, UK] and The White Hart Dartmoor is invaluable 🩷
To MAGGIE PIPE’S FAMILY - for their generosity at such a tough time 🙏
To all the PEOPLE WHO LOANED US STUFF - for making MMD look pretty 🌹
To Moretonhampstead Swimming Pool - for your help and for simply existing! 🏊‍♀️
And to THE AUDIENCE - the day would be nothing without you and your kind donations are going to make a huge difference to both Moretonhampstead Swimming Pool and MMD itself (see below for details)! 💪

If I’ve forgotten anyone I am very sorry 😔

On a financial note 💥£1107💥 was raised for Moretonhampstead Swimming Pool and, thanks to all the kind donations on the day, Moreton Music Day now has a budget of 💥£430💥 - this will go towards improving our advertising, buying crew t-shirts to make the team more visible and all the fun stuff we can think up for next year! 😁

I normally would sign this off from Emma & Bee but I want to give a special shout out to Bee Denning for organising the music in St Andrew's Church, Moretonhampstead and, this year, our last minute extra venue Hippo Dartmoor. I would also like to thank her for being my rock throughout the whole process! 😍

And to Chris Mann for (amongst many other things) his PA buying habit and putting up with me! 😘

PANIC OVER! Big thanks to Toby and Ian Mortimer (who made the mistake of stopping to say hi 🤣)

I will give thanks and money updates when I can but for now it’s another PLEA FOR HELP!!

If anyone is a) not at work b) not too hungover/still asleep I REALLY NEED A HAND MOVING FURNITURE BACK TO THE HORSE.

No need to reply just turn up, I am here (and, at this rate) will still be at midnight 🤦‍♀️🤣😩

UPDATE - LOVE THIS PLACE - WE HAVE BUCKETS ALREADY! 🪣Thank you Alan Cooper!

Just one day to go! We are already busy little bees 🐝 and beginning to set up.

Quick update - we have found the flowers 😁🌼🌸🌺 and thanks to the amazing generosity of our wonderful community have been loaned lots more decorations so Moreton Music Day will look pretty after all 🤩❤️

But, now we need BUCKETS! 🪣🪣🪣🪣

UPDATE:

Thanks to our amazing moorland community MMD now has so many decorations that I think I can call off the dogs 😝 As well as msgs on here I’ve been inundated with personal messages and I’m utterly blown away by your generosity!

PLEA FOR DECORATIONS! ⭐️🎼🪼🎀🌼🎆🎉🙏🙏

Dear Moreton,

Music Day wants to look pretty but we are a little lacking in decorations this year.

The vast majority of the decorations belonged to the wonderful Maggie Pipe, who sadly passed away recently. With the kind help of her family we are able to use the fabric backdrops again this year. However, the flowers and musical notes have been loaned out, we believe, to someone involved in this year's carnival.

So, my request is two-fold:

1) If the person who borrowed Maggie's mdf decorations (and possibly fairy lights) sees this message - please may we borrow them for Sunday (if not already attached to a float of course!)?

2) Can anyone please lend us fairy lights, bunting, streamers, dangly things - anything you think may be suitable to brighten up the day?

We are very careful with all the decorations we borrow and have no previous experience of anything being damaged (although please don't offer up anything precious as we obviously cannot guarantee its complete safety).
