Into The Valley Every second Thursday a month there is a musical evening down The Boat, Redbrook/Penallt. We’re looking for people to play 3 or 4 well-ish known covers.

What a fantastic, heartwarming evening last night down The Boat for the return of Into The Valley. We had The Noisy Gits being noisy, Phil Davidson giving us some John Prine, The Cross Eyed Pigeons with a bit of folk rock, Steve and Emily doing their unique and charming thing, Mabli and her friend and their lovely harmonies, and finally, The Cupid Stunts channelling Ozzy and Black Sabbath. Brilliant night! It was great to see a big turnout - The Boat is suffering from the road closure from Bigsweir to Redbrook and we need to support this very special pub. This Thursday (14th May) Into The Valley at The Boat Inn, Redbrook/Penallt NP25 4AJ comes back to life. It's an open mic night with a difference - an evening where a community of musical friends get together and help each other do their songs. We will have a Black Sabbath section where Rich McKenney and others channel the prince of darkness, the legend that is Phil Davidson doing some bluegrass with the house band, the wonderful Blue Eyed Ravens giving us a bit of harmonic folk rock, Mabli and her mate singing Appalachian country, Steve and Emily doing their unique hypnotic thing, and the usual gang of wrong 'uns being noisy. There will also be a few surprises (there usually are🤪). Please come and join us. It's a bloody marvellous night at The Best Pub In The Wales! (For anyone who doesn't know, The Boat is accessible by crossing the footbridge over the river Wye from Redbrook, England)

Happy Beltane one and all. It's May! Into The Valley will be making a return on Thursday the 14th of this month with all the usual suspects. There will be Rock, Pop, Folk, Bluegrass, Weirdness and Charm, and some of Rich's excellent yowling! Can't wait. See you all then! :-)

It was a great Into The Valley last night - the final one for a bit. A massive thanks to all that have come to these nights over the past 18 months, and a special thankyou to Nick, Trev and Phil for being the house band, and to Rich for all his support and encouragement (also for bellowing a few tunes!) It has really been a blast and forged some wonderful new friendships. Hopefully we'll be back up and running around Spring time. Cheers, Russ ###

TONIGHT! at The Boat Inn, Penallt/Redbrook we have our first Into The Valley music night of 2026. There will be some rock, pop, blues, bluegrass, folk and good vibes! I will be having a bit of a break from these sessions for a couple of months following this one so let's make it a good one! Cheers, Russ :-) (8.30pm start, but get there early to get a good seat!)

TONIGHT we'll be having another Into The Valley evening down The Boat (Penallt/Redbrook). If you haven't been along before, what you get is an assortment of singers backed by a local collective of musicians (guitarists, bassists, cajon players), plus tunes from soloists, duos and small bands. Artists to be covered this week are Sam Fender, Neil Young, Dusty Springfield, The Allman Brothers, Blue Oyster Cult, KT Tunstall. The Black Crows, Thin Lizzy, Hank Williams, Sam Cooke, Bruce Springsteen and many more. Hope to see you there - it's looking like being another lively one!
