Meet Belinda Blair, the calm voice of reason in the wonderfully chaotic world of Noises Off! While everyone around her seems to be descending into confusion, mishaps and backstage drama, Belinda does her best to keep the show on track—with mixed success!

Playing Belinda is Lizzi Hopkins, who is delighted to be returning to the stage with Suitcase after her stint as one of the three chorus women in our Greek tragedy, Medea. Lizzi has appeared in a professional tour of Shakers, played the Third Witch in The Witches of Macbeth at the Royal Shakespeare Company’s Swan Theatre, performed in Murder at the Cathedral at St Asaph Cathedral, and has also worked on BBC film projects.

When she's not performing, Lizzi is equally busy offstage, having recently completed a BSc in Forensic Psychology and currently studying for an MSc in Cyber Security.

We're thrilled to welcome Lizzi back to the stage as part of our cast of Noises Off—a production packed with laughter, mayhem and theatrical madness!

Meet Brooke Ashton

Brooke Ashton is the blonde, bewildered and blissfully unaware, wannabe-star actress of Nothing On, the play within the play in Noises Off! She's also somewhat prone to losing her contact lenses, forgetting what's going on, and getting distracted at exactly the wrong moment. As tensions rise backstage and performances begin to unravel, Brooke remains ignorant of the chaos around her, making her a key ingredient in the mayhem that follows.

Sweet-natured, well-meaning and wonderfully scatterbrained, Brooke's attempts to navigate the increasingly disastrous production provide some of the show's most ironic moments.

Brooke Ashton is played by Ru Huish, a long standing member of Suitcase, and was most recently seen as the eponymous tragic heroine (?), Medea - not her most light-hearted role of all time. Previous roles include Angela in Some Kind of Love Story, Estelle in Huis Clos, Hermione in The Winter's Tale and Meg in The Birthday Party.

Having spent much of her time on stage dealing with tragedy, heartbreak and existential despair, Ru is looking forward to trying something rather different as the absent-minded Brooke Ashton. She's also delighted that Brooke has considerably fewer lines than Medea!

When she's not rehearsing, Ru can usually be found teaching English, looking after her three children, or attempting to convince herself that lifting weights is enjoyable.

Come and see us perform at Theatr Clwyd this July. Only a small number of seats remaining.

Meet Gary Lejeune (or is that Roger?)

Gary Lejeune is the well-meaning but hopelessly accident-prone actor playing Roger Tramplemain in Noises Off. Charming, emotional, and perpetually distracted, Gary spends much of the play trying to navigate a complicated love life while somehow remembering his lines. As the chaos backstage spirals out of control, Gary finds himself at the centre of some of the production’s most hilarious misunderstandings and mishaps.

Bringing Gary to life is our long-standing member Tom Cutler, affectionately known as the man of a thousand voices. Audiences may recognise Tom from our recent production of Medea, where he delivered a commanding performance as the noble Aegeus. He has also captivated and unsettled audiences alike with his outstanding portrayals of Stanley in The Birthday Party and the Porter in Huis Clos. On a lighter note, Tom delighted audiences with his wonderfully comic turn as the Clown in The Winter’s Tale, proving his versatility across both drama and comedy.

With Gary’s frantic antics and Tom’s flair for character, audiences are in for a memorable performance full of laughter, confusion, and theatrical mayhem.

Meet Lloyd Dallas – director, diplomat, ringmaster... and a man rapidly discovering that keeping a theatre company together may be harder than putting on the show itself!

At the helm of Nothing On, Lloyd is desperately trying to navigate missed cues, bruised egos, backstage romances and a cast seemingly determined to descend into complete chaos. Cool, charismatic and endlessly resourceful, he's the glue holding the production together – though as the cracks begin to show, even Lloyd's considerable powers may not be enough to stop the wheels coming spectacularly off.

Taking on this iconic role is long-standing Suitcase member Si Kneale, whose versatility has been showcased time and again on our stage. Audiences will remember his gripping performance as Jason in our recent production of Medea – a world away from the comic mayhem of Noises Off. Si has also captivated audiences in leading roles including Leontes in The Winter's Tale, Tom in Some Kind of Love Story, and Garcin in Huis Clos, to name just a few.

Now, he swaps tragedy for farce as he takes centre stage in one of theatre's most beloved comedies. Don't miss Si as Lloyd Dallas – the man attempting the impossible: directing a show that's falling apart while trying not to fall apart himself!

Noises Off is packed with mistaken identities, backstage antics, slamming doors and laugh-out-loud chaos. Book your tickets and prepare for an unforgettable night at the theatre!

A little introduction to our Dotty Otley, played by Karen Campbell.

Karen has spent years appearing in professional and amateur productions on stage and screen, but few roles have taken her as far from Medea’s stoic Nurse as the gloriously chaotic Dotty Otley/Mrs Clackett in Noises Off. As a member of Suitcase Theatre, she’s thrilled to swap tragedy for comedy and throw herself headfirst into the controlled chaos of this classic farce.

Offstage, Karen’s life is just as impressive. She’s a mother of four, a 5th Dan Black Belt in karate and kickboxing, a regular presenter at the UK Martial Arts Hall of Fame Awards—and an inductee herself. In short, if the backstage antics get out of hand, she’s probably the best-qualified cast member to restore order.

“I’m excited to take on the challenge of this role—and hopefully leave audiences laughing all the way home!”

We’re almost fully cast for Noises Off — and what a fantastic team it’s shaping up to be. Tickets are already selling for this July’s production at Theatr Clwyd, and with initial reads and meetings now underway, the excitement is definitely building.

That said, there’s still room for one more key member of the team. If you’re interested in helping bring this brilliantly chaotic comedy to life, we’d love to hear from you. We’re currently looking for a competent stage manager to help steer what promises to be a wonderfully complex — and even more wonderfully fun — production.

If that sounds like your kind of challenge, please get in touch.

Meanwhile, if that’s not your bag, you can always buy a ticket 😬
