One of the great things to come out of Soundwave - catch you problem on 19th July at the Coach and Horses, Dumfries.

♦️Small Town Sounds Spotlight is back! ♦️

Our first Spotlight since our relaunch shines a light on Dumfries and Galloway band you problem!

With a sound that blends punk, new wave, nu metal and progressive rock, the five-piece are carving out their own path on the local music scene. We also caught up with Alix from the band to hear about their plans for new music and upcoming gigs.

Spring Cut 26 is happening this Sunday at Studio Moffat 🎸

We’re bringing together a brilliant line-up of young local bands — Jeff Brown Overdrive, RHELM and YOU problem! — for an afternoon of live music.

Before the gig, we’re also launching the Soundwave Instrument Library (2–3pm) — a free, drop-in session where you can:

- try out instruments
- meet tutors
- sign up to borrow

Then from 3pm, the music starts.

we’re loud and outspoken, and we want to make a space for the people who get drowned out in “normal” society. have you ever felt like you’re too weird to be a part of live music? well so do we, so come watch! also, we’re clowns :)”

SPOTLIGHT ON…

Next up on our lineup for Spring Cut 26 is… RHELM!

“Hi, we are RHELM, a young indie rock band from Castle Douglas. We formed when we were just thirteen and since then have been trying to find our big break. Over the past few years we have played at numerous festivals and events, including Knockengorroch Festival, Music At the Multiverse, Moniaive Festival, Midsummer Music Festival, The Vault, and the Youthbeatz mainstage.

RHELM consists of Megan on vocals, Eilidh and Lucy on guitar, and Harrison on drums. We initially worked on creating upbeat covers and have progressed to writing and recording our own energetic original material. We recorded our first single at Circa16 professional recording studios through Catstrand Creatives and the Stranded Cat Recording label. This has been such a great experience for us as all our members are still at school and we find focusing on this much more exciting than exams.

We love to prove that kids from smaller, more rural areas can make music too, not just solo artists and bands from cities. Our first single “Sleep" and our second single “Imposter Syndome”, recorded through the Geez A Choon program at Up Yer Airts, are both available to stream and download now on all major platforms.
