Wishing everyone a very happy first day of school ♥️
It feels like yesterday when I left Fred (who had only just turned 4!) at school for the first time!
The boy was ready though, he was super excited, very proud of his book bag and when he walked into his classroom as a fully fledged "firefly" he didn't look back!
I had all anxiety's going - from could he handle a whole day without me, let alone a whole week, will he be behind because he is so young (some of his classmates mates were nearly a year older than him!) will he eat his lunch, will he make friends, what happens if he gets upset, will they cuddle him... and now you know what I am going to say... I had absolutely nothing to worry about - the boy smashed it!
Fast forward to today. About to start year 9 (and I no longer have permission to post his photo!) - still besties with the lads he met in reception (fireflies) and still heading off into school without looking back! I'm lucky to get a goodbye these days, and blimey, how I miss those end of day hugs when he would race out for a big cuddle! Make the most of them now guys!
For us, primary school was epic. The novelty of dress up days did eventually wear off, but both my boys really flourished! They are both super academic, but what I am most proud of, and something which was really drilled into them at primary school is that they both know who they are and are proud of it. They have personal goals, they stand up for what they believe is right, and they question if they are unsure. By the time they reached secondary they were confident young lads, ready for their next chapter!
So first time primary school gang - get ready for an awesome ride full of firsts, celebrations, sports days, assemblies, lost jumpers, water bottles and lunch boxes! Oh... and a really busy whatsapp group.... your phone will be non stop pinging!
Oooh and if your little one has a birthday coming up, drop us a note! Invite the whole class and let us do the entertaining for you! 5th birthday parties are the best! ♥️
