Pond relines are never a small job… but getting the foundations right is what ensures years of trouble-free enjoyment. 💧

Here’s a reline project currently in progress, fresh liner installed, water going back in, and the pond beginning its next chapter.

A properly fitted liner is essential for preventing leaks, protecting wildlife, and giving the pond a new lease of life.

More updates coming soon as this one develops. 👀🐟

I’ll be back on the radio this Sunday, 31 May, at around 10:45am with Pat Marsh 🎙️

This time we’ll be talking about something very relevant for pond owners as the weather warms up, hot weather, oxygen levels and why fish can suddenly struggle when the temperature rises.

It’s one of those subjects that can catch people out quickly. A pond can look fine one evening, then by the next morning, fish may be gasping at the surface if oxygen levels have dropped too low.

I’ve also written a new blog on the same subject, covering what to look out for and what you can do to help protect your fish during warmer weather.

You can read it here:
https://www.fishlife.co.uk/post/oxygen-depletion-in-ponds-during-hot-weather-why-fish-losses-can-happen-quickly

Worth a read if you have koi, goldfish, a heavily stocked pond, algae problems or limited water movement.

Most water quality problems start long before you see green water…

Nutrients build up, oxygen drops, and the balance quietly disappears.

We know the science isn’t always easy to follow, that’s why OASE created this simple SeDox Max animation to show what’s really happening beneath the surface.

More importantly, SeDox Max helps restore long-term balance and keep your water clear.

👉 Watch to understand your pond better, and stay one step ahead of algae.

🕊️ Have you spotted a heron near your pond?

Herons are impressive birds, but for pond owners, they can also be a serious concern.

At this time of year, ponds become more active, fish are moving around more, and herons are often looking for easy feeding spots around ponds, lakes and water gardens.

If you keep koi, goldfish or ornamental pond fish, now is a good time to check your pond protection.

Simple steps can help, including:

✅ Creating deeper areas where fish can retreat
✅ Adding marginal planting for cover
✅ Using pond netting where needed
✅ Checking for easy landing spots around the pond edge
✅ Making sure fish are not overly exposed in shallow areas

A well-designed pond not only looks better; it also provides fish with safer places to hide and helps create a healthier ecosystem.

🌿 Struggling with algae or green water in your pond or lake?

The real problem may not be the algae itself; it could be excess phosphate feeding it.

In our latest blog, we explain the difference between SeDox Speed and SeDox Max, two OASE Lake Therapy products designed to help reduce phosphate and improve water quality.

We cover:

✅ Why phosphate causes algae and cyanobacteria blooms
✅ When to use SeDox Speed
✅ When SeDox Max is better for larger ponds and lakes
✅ Why professional water testing matters before treatment

This is especially useful for large ponds, estate lakes, golf course ponds, fishing lakes, farm ponds and council lakes.

🌱 Your pond is waking up… are you ready?

As temperatures start to rise, everything in your pond begins to come back to life, fish become more active, plants start growing, and beneficial bacteria get to work again.

But it’s not just the good things that wake up… algae does too.

Spring is the most important time to get your pond balanced before problems take hold. A quick check of your system, water quality, and filtration now can save a lot of trouble later.

If you’re not sure where your pond stands after winter, it’s a good time to take a closer look.

🧪 Why is your pond going green?

One of the biggest causes of algae blooms is phosphate.

When phosphate levels rise above 0.035 mg/l, conditions become ideal for algae to thrive, leading to green water and poor clarity.

The good news? It’s manageable.

Products like Oase SeDox Speed and SeDox Max are designed to bind and reduce phosphate, effectively starving algae of the nutrients it needs to grow.

📊 Regular water testing is key, as these results show. Understanding what’s happening beneath the surface makes all the difference.

If you’re struggling with persistent algae, it’s often not just the symptoms… It’s the chemistry.
