Over the moon to be back with our New Wave group tomorrow morning at Middlesbrough Town Hall

We run from 10-12 every Tuesday and we are always happy to meet new members.

Over the last two years our group has tackled Shakespeare, created short videos, looked at comedy, created ghost stories for Christmas and wrote our own short stories and Shakespeare inspired monologues.

The group is great for anyone over the age of 50 who wants to create in a space with like minded individuals.

Next Tuesday, the 18th of November, our New Wave Company will be sharing letters and reimagined monologues from some of Shakespeares greatest plays.

Imagine if Caesar was not slain? That Hamlet tried to understand his mother? Or that Juliet managed to leave before she even met Romeo?

If you fancy a wonderful bit of lunchtime entertainment - pop along to Middlesbrough Town Hall Courtroom at 12pm!

Next Tuesday, 16th of September, our New Wave group returns after our summer break! Even better, we are returning to our roots and looking at Shakespeare once more...

So, if you are over 50 and fancy challenging the Bard and his characters - potentially altering the outcome of history's most tragic endings, then come along to Middlesbrough Town Hall on Tuesday at 10am till 12pm to have a go...

Tea/Coffee's provided as well as plenty of laughter and learning.

Tomorrow is our second week back for our New Wave group. and we would love to see some new faces come along and join us!

If you are over 50 and would like to develop your own creativity and understanding of drama, challenge yourself and others perception of age - then come and join our wonderful group (pic below as proof)

We are based at Middlesbrough Town Hall and every 3 months we work on different aspects of drama depending on what the group is interested in. Up to now we've tackled Shakespeare, Created short films inspired by poets and playwrights as well as a Victorian Ghost story for Christmas!

It's a fun, social and supportive group that is open to all!

We just wanted to share this lovely poem by our New Wave company member Bobbie, in response to our process of creating A Winters Chill.

🎄🎅🏻🥶

At the start of September a play we begin
So beautifully scripted by David and Lynn.
Then down in the cells we prepared to narrate
Those glorious stories of horror and hate.
A mixture of voices, a strange storyline
Of a stray monkey’s hand and a babe in a mine,
A newly wed maiden trapped in a cellar
Discovered years later to haunt Arabella.
A ‘heartwarming’ story of horror and dread
To make even Dickens revolve in his bed!
The costumes were sorted, the parts given out
And we started to grasp what this play was about.
A bride disappearing on her wedding day
Is discovered years later as putrid decay
A commodore using a vile monkeys hand
To murder and cheat and to make himself grand.
An innocent girl is defiled by her master
Her poor stillborn babe to be buried thereafter.
The dead, tortured bride then returns to the stage
Our little play is over so we now turn the page.
And though we know Christmas is filled with good cheer
We’re reminded that dead souls are hovering near
But it’s all jolly stuff for a good yule tide treat
So have a great Christmas. Next year we will meet!

A massive WELL DONE to our New Wave group on their Victorian ghost story for Christmas ‘A Winters Chill’ performed on the main stage in Middlesbrough Town Hall.

We’ve had some wonderful feedback with many a folk spooked ready for Christmas.

Hello lovely less is MORE followers - we would love to invite you along to a performance of A Winters Chill at Middlesbrough Town Hall on the 11th December.

Location - Middlesbrough Town Hall, TS1 2QJ

A Winters Chill is a victorian Christmas ghost story designed and created by our New Wave Group. Over the summer the group created a series of characters and stories which then was taken away and shaped into a narrative by David Tuffnell and Lynne Ellis (a member of the company). The company then recorded the story and worked on a soundscape that they will then animate for you.

The story follows a journey of a theatrical company producing Dickens Christmas Carol at Middlesbrough Town Hall after its grand opening in 1889. Over the course of the story a number of members are haunted by ghosts of their past, who are now impacting the future of the show and the cast!

Our New Wave group runs every Tuesday and is for people over the age of 50 who wish to try new challenges and tackle perceptions and expectations of growing older. Every three months the group decide on a new performance focus that they wish to learn about and develop.

We have a few spaces left on our Freeing Creativity workshop.

Your time is valuable to us at less is MORE and we will pay you a fee of £120 to attend and explore different issues that surround the Tees Valley and send us an evaluation of your thoughts and experience of the workshop.

I’m based in Middlesbrough & teach locally
I offer group & individual sessions plus sound meditation which is a lovely way to relax & meditate at the same time!
I also teach chair Yoga, childrens Yoga & general fitness classes
