April and May have been difficult months, that’s for sure - but lots of happy memories too! Celebrated a lot of birthdays, spent lots of time with friends and playing games, we got to visit UK Games Expo this year and got to try the new Cult of the Lamb board game by which I’m 100% backing (we will definitely be back); there’s been plenty of highlights.
I’m home from my trip back to see family for my grandfather’s funeral, and life waits for no one so I’m back on the grind. I’ve said it a lot already but I want to thank everyone for their patience at this time, it has given me the space I needed to process and allow myself to have a bit of fun too. But now I’ve returned reinvigorated and inspired to get a hell of a lotta stuff out for you guys! Stay tuned!

As some of you may know, my Grandfather recently passed away from vascular-onset dementia. I was his first granddaughter and he inspired me a lot in my art growing up being an artist himself. In turn, it felt appropriate to honour his memory with more artwork to raise money for a cause that is all too familiar to a lot of people, I imagine some of you too.

I’ve drawn this collection of flash with designs representing Alzheimer’s, dementia, and couple specific pieces that remind me of my Grandpops.
From now until June 21st (his birthday), for every piece I do from this sheet, 50% will go to Alzheimer’s Research UK; the charity my grandmother chose for his funeral, dedicated in their search for a cure to dementia. After his birthdate, I’ll be posting how much has been raised in his memory.

So while I’m not back yet, I wanted to keep you all informed on what’s going on.
My grandfather passed away at the end of last month, hence my hiatus; we were very close when I was growing up and he inspired and encouraged me a lot in my art, so it’s been quite hard to focus on work lately. I’ve been taking some time off (all affected appointments were contacted and have since been rescheduled), but I will be back tattooing next week before going away again for the funeral. I’m not going to return to a regular posting schedule until after the funeral so I can come back to it all having closed a chapter, but I do have some things planned for the near future. I’m looking at doing a fundraiser in my grandfather’s memory (which of course will be tattoo related) so stick around for that as I’m looking to post about it in more detail sometime next week!

Thank you to everyone, from friends to clients, for their understanding and compassion during this time. It has honestly made a world of difference and lifted a heavy weight of worry from my shoulders. I can’t express my gratitude enough. Because of that, I’ve been able to invest some real time into doing things I love, to process, take a real break, and move forward, which has really helped me feel rejuvenated with a new motivation coming back to work and push my business forward with some new-found strength!

It’s COLLAB TIME! and I went to university together and became an insufferable gang (with .jpeg of course), you’ll have seen them crop up a lot on my social media as we are always doing uni events together and was my first ever client!
We loved working together in uni so I invited them to work with me again. After showing Alex my design process and talking a bit about how I tattoo, they’ve drawn up this super cool, skull-themed flash sheet for me to tattoo!
Whenever I tattoo one of Alex’s designs, some of what you pay will go to them, making sure that the original artist gets what they deserve.

✨WIP✨ I absolutely ADORED doing this Athena piece for a few weeks ago, representing feminine strength and power. It was my first time doing something at this scale with no linework but I think that made it all the better. We didn’t get time to finish it off, still more shading and contrast to add, but my priority was getting it to a point I could work from next time without needing to stitch on another stencil and that we did achieve. Wishing Steph all the luck in the world for her move to Ireland, hope to catch you next time you’re back for a visit!

So this is a very wordy one.
If you’re wanting your TLDR:
My page hasn’t been coming up in searches and the results are gross. I’ve made changes to my account to try and fix this, but what you can do is; if you’re sharing my profile with anyone, share it directly using a post or the Instagram feature by clicking the 3 dots in the corner of the screen. This way we dodge the toxic algorithm and the AI overlords!

Stumbled upon the fact that the algorithm has not been kind to me. I was already having trouble getting my Instagram to come up on a google search, now I’m struggling to show up even on Instagram, my primary platform. The most aggravating part of it is the kinds of posts coming up that honestly have nothing to do with the search, and some are just absolutely vile 🤢
So I’ve tried to figure out why I’m so hard to find. It might have something to do with the kinds of posts I interact with, but that isn’t something I’m prepared to change, so I’ve done what I can and fortunately (or unfortunately depending on how you think about it) it has been working. If I notice any other changes, I’ll be sure to post about it in my story so stay tuned!! And if you have any ideas on what I can do or any understanding of the enigma that is the alrogithm, drop a message or comment, I’m always wanting to learn more!
