Rising Star Comp may 2025
I am incredibly proud of each and every one of you!
I realised just days before this comp how many of you either didnโt do this one last year and/or moved from novice to open. I had this moment where I thought โwhat I have done?โ I entered almost the whole school because we loved it so much last year, then realised that last year we only took a small team, and I think all except 2 children had enough dances in the novice sections, last year, to not quite feel the full affect of the extremely high standard of this comp!
You all absolutely blew me away! I said to Amelia A after her lyrical, she never ceases to impress me. She sees what the standard is and just goes gives even more than last time - and somehow thatโs every time she takes to the stage ! And this just seemed to run through the school. I saw brand new dances attacked in a way I didnโt expect , I saw novice dancers come out with an energy I wasnโt expecting. I saw my senior girls stand up and ๏ฟผgive the best of themselves, it would have been so easy to feel intimated by the standard of this comp ( though it definitely helps that the atmosphere was fantastic and so very supportive )
You all absolutely held your own in those super sections , both big in numbers and tough in standard. Medals are a bonus but certainly donโt define your achievements this week.
I was proud of the troupes we put out. They have improved so much since the January comp!
And even though I know this is the hardest comp we do, I loved it again and will be back next year!
In typical miss susie style I forgot the pick up our papers, they were kindly posted to me. Reading them through properly yesterday ( Iโd looked quickly between dances at the comp) Iโm so pleased to see many of you praised for points we were told to work on a few months ago. Letโs take this next set of feedback and keep moving forward !
