Today we had two brave souls take on the dark.
Team: M&A

They went in working well as a team to decipher the puzzles left behind in the dark and keeping their minds open to the tricky tasks at hand.

Even with the unsettling atmosphere and unwanted presences in the room with them, they kept their determination to beat the clock and escape the nightmare…
But was it enough to stop the spirits from taking them into the dark for good?

Even with all their hard work and intelligence, unfortunately they did not escape and had to accept their fate. They did really well and weren’t far off from getting out. You should both be so proud of yourselves and we hope to see you again soon.

This afternoon we had a team of 6 who attempted an escape room today here at Project Escape Middlesbrough, taking on the strange and twisted world of The Upside Down. Team Vecnas Bosses arrived with a mixture of experienced escapers and brave newcomers, all ready to face whatever lurked beyond the walls. After a quick scout around and a few moments of “where do we even start?”, they soon got stuck in. The team even resorted to a game of rock, paper, scissors to decide who would become the next victim of the darkness, proving early on that bravery may have been in short supply, but laughs certainly were not.

During the first half of the game, the team took their time adjusting to the eerie atmosphere and puzzling mysteries that The Upside Down had to throw at them. Communication stayed strong throughout as ideas bounced from one side of the room to the other. They may have hit a few stumbling blocks along the way, but their determination never faded. Every clue found brought more excitement, and before long the team began assigning roles naturally, with everyone pulling their weight and working brilliantly together.

As the pressure began to rise in the second half, so did the tension. There were a few moments of frustration as the clock ticked down and Vecna seemed to tighten his grip, but this team refused to give up. Their teamwork remained outstanding, their determination unwavering, and after an intense final push they managed to escape with just 2 minutes and 37 seconds remaining. Safe to say they didn’t just survive The Upside Down, they conquered it.

From start to finish, Team Vecnas Bosses were an absolute pleasure to host. Full of laughs, brilliant teamwork and plenty of determination, they proved that even when things get strange, sticking together is the best weapon you’ve got. Congratulations on your escape, and remember… if you hear a clock chiming again, maybe don’t answer it.

This afternoon we had a team of 4 who attempted an escape room today, taking on the challenge of The Dark here at Project Escape Middlesbrough. As first timers, The Grafters stepped into a room where the lights get dimmer, the tension rises, and the witches are always waiting to claim their next victim. Before long, the team were already making important decisions, including a highly competitive game of rock, paper, scissors to decide who would be the next unfortunate soul sent into the darkness.

During the first half an hour, the team took a little time to settle into their surroundings and get to grips with the room. They carefully searched for clues, explored every corner, and worked together to figure out what each puzzle was asking of them. Communication remained strong throughout, and despite a few tricky moments, they kept their spirits high and never stopped pushing forward.

As the room grew darker and the pressure began to build, The Grafters really found their rhythm. They assigned themselves roles, trusted each other’s strengths, and showed some fantastic teamwork. There were a few moments of frustration towards the end, but that’s exactly what The Dark is designed to do. The excitement grew with every discovery, and with the witches closing in, the team raced through the final challenges before escaping with just 1 minute and 32 seconds remaining.

Overall, The Grafters put in a brilliant performance. Their determination, teamwork, and willingness to keep going even when things got difficult was impressive to watch. Escaping The Dark with so little time left made for a very dramatic finish, and they should all be proud of themselves. Congratulations on your escape, and we hope to see you back at Project Escape Middlesbrough again soon to take on another challenge.

Our next team of detectives to feel they are able to crack case of Sherlocks Manor today was the team "Peaky Blinders".

Eager to take on the challenge of this cold case the team soon got to work getting stuck into their first few puzzles in no time flat. Working well as a team and making full use of their numbers the team spread across the room trying their hand and a number of puzzles before taking on the few they thought would be best hoping uncover the secrets that's lay hidden away in the long forgotten Manor.

With the team giving it their all they managed to move on further into the manor soon been met by even more puzzles they kept their wits about them and pressed on. Worried they may be soon running out of time they made one final push to conquer each of the manors last few mysteries and brain busters pushing the team to the limit and as a result finally across the finish line with a solid 10:58 left on the clock earning them the current 2nd place on the monthly leaderboard.

Our next team of fearsome pirates to unfortunately find themselves shipwrecked today was the team "Shiver Me Timbers!" made up of Nichola, Leo, Leyla jade, Lorna and Andy.

Starting off strong the team began searching their newfound surroundings for anything that get them moving towards freedom. Working together to solve their first few puzzles they managed to quickly crack open a few of those they had found, with their quick thinking leading them forwards they were able to make some solid progress but with their timer quickly ticking down the pressure was just as quickly building. Making solid progress with their gameplan of all working together to solve each of the shipwrecks puzzles except for one that would prove rather troublesome for the team to conquer.

Keeping a level head as they managed to pry open up more of their room and being met with even more puzzles, getting to work slowly ticking each one they were noticing each puzzle was becoming more and more difficult. With one final hopeful push to cross off their remaining puzzles the team would unfortunately be left scratching their heads asking for a hint as their last seconds ticked away leaving them just short of the finish line.

We hope you enjoyed your time with us today here at project escape and that you may return in the future to take on another of our rooms!

Putting on their thinking caps today we have “ASPIRE”, made up of the cunning sleuths: Scarlet, Isla, Ellie, Seffie and Ruby. Sherlock has called them in, despite their mixed bag of escape room experience, but can they solve the Mystery of the Manor?

The team got off to a roaring start, splitting up and scanning the manor up and down for anything that can send them in the right direction. With only a hint they were able to sail through the majority of the puzzles and get ahead of the time…

As they passed the halfway mark they weren’t slowing down, but a few hints were needed to keep them moving. To Sherlock’s delight they were getting so close, but the time seemed to disappear, leaving the Mystery of the Manor unsolved at the last hurdle!

Well done team for a great attempt. You handled one of our harder rooms really well 🕵️‍♀️ We hope to see you back at Project Escape soon!

Braving the Upside Down today we have “Young at Heart” , made up of the brave kids: Vicky, Lynn, Lee and Andrea. This team of escape room newbies were up for a challenge, but would the Upside Down get the better of them?

As soon as they were in, our team got moving, scouring the room for any hints to find their missing friends. They started off strong, unlocking a few locks with no help, but their pace started to fall. With a hint, our team kept moving, but they were still messing up on quite a lot of the puzzles…

As they passed the halfway mark, they found themselves stuck a few more times. With a bit more help, they started cleaning up, but their pace was just too slow and they remained stuck in the upside down forever!

Nice try team! Thanks so much for joining us at the Upside Down. Great to hear you enjoyed your escape room experience, we hope to see you back again soon!

This afternoon we had team “Mulroy Gang” take on the upside down.

Walking in full of confidence, this brave group of 5 entered the upside down and faced the challenges thrown their way, but could they find their way out?

At the start, they started off really strong, splitting off into smaller groups to discover each puzzle efficiently.
They came face to face with some familiar faces and worked well as a team to overcome their challenges, but… Vecna was getting closer by the second.

Did he end up catching you or could you get away from him in time?

Working as a team, they managed to escape the upside down by defeating all the puzzles that stood in their way, with only 2 minutes left on the clock. A massive well done to the team. You should be hugely proud of yourselves. We hope you had a lot of fun and we look forward to seeing you again soon.
