Tonight was the May Re_member session where I do an online Zentangle session as part of Karen Sutton's membership programme

It is every other month and this month I used the Zentangle Headquarter's Bijou Be Well series as inspiration. We managed to do 6 of the 7 suggested tangles provided this week.

There was a lot of humour around drawing the Indy-Rella so I can't wait for them to share their photos so I can create a mosaic of what they have produced.

We had some regulars and some new faces tonight and it is such a positive evening. Exactly why Zentangle helps your mental health and well being.

Look out for the mosaic later in the week.

I have been very quiet on here recently because in the new year I decided to take the plunge and do the Grief Educator programme with David Kessler. The idea being I can be a peer to peer supporter and to help my work that I do as part of Karen Sutton’s Re_member programme with my online Zentangle sessions in her group.

I have to be honest. It was quite tough in parts and enlightening in others. I didn’t have the bandwidth to do it and post. It helped me do a lot of work on myself too.

Today I have decided to take part in the Zentangle Bijou Be Well series that started yesterday and will be sharing my progress over in my Facebook group.

Who else is joining in this year. Let me know what colour background you have chosen in the comments.

Zentangle have released their latest Bijou Be Well series where they will suggest tangles over a 21 day project. A great way to learn new tangles and learn how to put them together.

It is to celebrate Mental Health awareness month because looking after our mental health is so important and Zentangle really helps.

Who else is taking part? Which colour background will you be using?

Brilliant day today at Durham University Business School. What an atmosphere and so many wonderful, supportive women in one place.

Well done to Mirren, Ruth and Sarah Jane. You have started something beautiful.

Big thanks to Something Profound Clothing for putting up this reel as she’s much better at it than me and was great company today. 😊

Shaky Lines? Good News

Tuesday Tip: Slow your pen down and breathe out as you draw the line.
Why: Zentangle is about intentional lines. If your lines are not perfect then embrace the wobble. Zentangle is about the process not perfection.
Add a like if your lines wobble too!

Only got 5 minutes? Do this…

Tuesday Tip
Draw just one tangle in one corner of a tile.

Why it works: Removes the pressure to “finish” something.

You can always add to it later when you have another few minutes spare.

Save this for your next busy day.

Hello
I’ve noticed a few new faces here, so I thought I’d take a moment to introduce myself.

I’m Joanne, the face behind Teesside Tangler, and a Certified Zentangle Teacher based in the North East of England.

I run workshops sharing the joy of mindful drawing, helping people slow down, reconnect with their creativity, and find calm through simple pen on paper patterns. Zentangle was a hobby I discovered that helped me when I was going through a difficult time and it helped me reduce stress and calmed my mind. In October 2022 i trained as a zentangle teacher and I love how it is a place where community where creativity and wellbeing meet, and I’m so glad you’re here.

Zentangle is an 8-step process for mindful drawing. It’s structured but freeing, and you don’t need any artistic experience at all. Each pattern is built up one step at a time, making it accessible, relaxing, and a gentle way to quiet busy minds. If you can write the letters iSCO, you can Zentangle.

I run both online and in-person workshops, creating welcoming, supportive spaces where you can pause, breathe, and draw.

Thank you for being here, for supporting a small creative business, and for choosing to take a little time for yourself.

Let me know in the comments if you have had a go of zentangle and if yes, how it has helped you.
