We have many rooms to hire including the 200 seater recently renovated Theatr Soar. We are home to many independant classes for drama groups, folk music, choir groups, art classes and local history groups. Come to our CAFFI SOAR that is open Monday - Saturday and renowned for serving the best mocha in Merthyr! Our bookshop 'LLYFRAU’R ENFYS' sells Welsh and English language new and second hand book

s as well as a large selection greeting cards. We provide translation services and if you’re looking for Welsh language courses, or a place to hear and practice your Welsh, this is place for you! Last Thursday, we had the privilege of remembering a very dear friend of Canolfan Soar at a beautiful service held here at Soar.

We feel incredibly privileged to have known her, to have had her friendship and support over so many years, and to have witnessed the warmth, enthusiasm and encouragement she gave so generously to our community.

Her family shared these beautiful words with us:

Mum was a well-known figure at Soar. At a time when the project was in its infancy, she supported and helped shape it, then made every effort to encourage people to attend history classes and other activities. It was a fitting tribute that she chose to have a celebration there and her family and friends gathered to reflect upon her life and achievements. A heartfelt thanks from all of us for the efforts put in by all of the staff for making the day a special one in her memory. Long may Canolfan Soar flourish and grow! - David

We are so grateful for everything she gave to Soar and to the wider community. It was a privilege to remember her here, surrounded by family and friends, and to celebrate a life that made such a meaningful contribution to our community.

She will be very much missed, but her legacy will always remain part of the Soar story. ❤️
