In September, I got to host a the wonderful Merthyr Sands. We painted birth flowers, flowers that were meaningful to us and butterflies - a symbol a transformation and remembrance. It was a beautiful evening of creativity, I’m so grateful to everyone who shared their stories through art.

Im proud to have worked with a fantastic group of people to work towards Cyfarthfa Castle goals of delivering the Anti-racist Wales Action Plan, we focused on re-identifying and re-interpreting some of the Indian Hertiage artefacts in the collection.

It was a joy to learn more about the 22+ languages of India and the importance of tea in its many cultures. I was able to curate the re-interpreted images and drawings chosen by the
members Indian Heritage centre and local school children. These images were transferred onto a copy of the original Crawshay Coalport tea set and is now able to be handled by younger visitors as parts of Cyfarthfa’s ‘Time for Chai’ learning experience.

It’s apparent that I do enjoy a challenge (documents submitted whilst I sat in the passengers seat on the way to the airport iykyk). Over the last few years, I’ve really pushed myself to work with Qualifications Wales and now the WJEC to develop new, made-for-Wales qualifications. I’m proud of what’s been achieved and am looking forward to seeing the qualifications launched.

For the last few months I’ve worked with the Cyfarthfa Foundation and museum team to create Cyfarthfa: Past. Present. Future. as part of the celebration. Here are some behind the scenes and photos of launch night.

This Bicentenary celebrates the history and heritage of Cyfarthfa as well as looking to the future. One that develops Cyfathfa and drives economic, social and cultural renewal!
