Wow, it's only 27 sleeps till . We can't wait for you to join us and have the chance to take part in some really fun and interesting activities.

We'll be joined by the University of South Wales who are delivering a few activities (we're feeling very spoilt!!!)

Activity 1 - Travelling museum - Visitors can touch and hold real dinosaur bones, ask questions of a real palaeontologist, and learn about the science of earth history.

Activity 2 - Visitors can create their own fingerprint key ring and examine their fingerprints by identifying key characteristics.

Activity 3 - An opportunity for visitors to try using fingerprint powders to develop and lift marks.

Activity 4 - What smell is that? - Visitors use their nose to try to identify a range of different distinctive smells. Then they learn about the specific chemicals responsible for that smell.

Activity 5 - Aqueous creams - Visitors will engage with ongoing undergraduate research into the optimum formulation of plant-based oils in aqueous creams.

Forensics, palaeontology, finding out how smells work, and talking to some researchers about their important work...What more could we possibly want!! We're so happy that the University of South Wales are able to joins us and deliver so many different activities.

Join us at and you'll be able to chat to Education Workforce Council and take part in the activities they'll be delivering, such as making badges, making circuits and a reaction game.

We love badges so you'll definitely see us making some. We can't wait to see you there.

Stay calm everyone!!! It's only 5 weeks till and we're so excited to bring so many incredible exhibitors to the festival. However we couldn't have done it without funding and sponsorship, so we'd like to say thanks to the team at Ffos-y-fran community fund. The grant is awarded to community projects working in Merthyr Tydfil.

Having funding available to us means we can put on the type of festival we'd like and gain valuable feedback to see what you, the public, would like to see next year!!

Why not hone your coding skills and come along to to find out about Code Club. You'll even have the chance to have a go at a Raspberry Pi wire loop programming game.

Did you know that Raspberry Pi computers are made in Wales?!?!?! Yep...they're made at the Sony - UK Technology Centre in Pencoed, Bridgend.

wouldn't happen without our amazing volunteers and exhibitors. So we would like to take this opportunity at the start of to say the biggest thank you.

Thank you so much for giving up your free time to share your skills and knowledge with families across Merthyr, providing support to the visitors and helping to make sure things run smoothly on the day. You'll be breaking stereotypes and raising aspirations in really fun and engaging ways.

Not only can you find out how to get into astronomy and have a look at some telescopes but you'll be able to build a puff powdered rocket. We can't wait for Mid-Wales Astronomy Society to be there and get some tips on how to take some amazing photos of the night sky.

Although Wales Dark Skies Week isn't till February, come along to chat to the astronomers and find out about planets and constellations and you'll have time to practice in readiness.

Well join Cardiff University School of Chemistry alongside Royal Society of Chemistry at Merthyr Leisure Centre on Saturday 11th July and you too can find out how. 7 weeks and counting!!!!! How exciting!

Tilbury Douglas are working on the redevelopment of the Prince Charles Hospital and we are very lucky that they'll be joining us, on Saturday 11th July. They'll be bringing with them a giant tetrahedron challenge which is a mix of maths, engineering and construction.

We wonder how big you can make the tetrahedron? 🤔

We'd like to highlight another one of our funders. Thanks to the Royal Society of Chemistry .

The Royal Society of Chemistry carries out research, publishes journals, books and databases, as well as hosting conferences, seminars and workshops. It is the professional body for chemistry in the UK. They also support teachers by providing resources to inspire their students.

With the Outreach Fund, we can create a successful and enjoyable festival this year while using your feedback to shape an even bigger and better event for next year.

Crikey it's only 8 weeks till the big day and we'd love to tell you about another one of our amazing exhibitors. Especially at it's

We have the wonderful Dr Hannah Jones and her team coming all the way from the University of Bristol to deliver some really fun hands-on activities relating to mental health, health science and epidemiology. We hear rumours of Hannah bringing a marble run, or some crafts and there may even possibly be a wheel of fortune game or fishing game.

Consider our interest piqued and we will definitely be coming over to find out about how diseases are spread (epidemiology) especially after hearing about the recent outbreaks of hantavirus and meningitis.
