Observed on 11 November each year, Remembrance Day marks the anniversary of the armistice that ended fighting in World War I, the date that the guns on the Western Front fell silent.

🖌️Quentin Blake style pen & ink illustrations🖌️
A fabulous workshop learning to draw your own Quentin Blake style pen and watercolour illustrations of your friends, family and pets! Your talented tutor and artist, Sarah will teach you her secret methods to getting your drawing hand working just like Quentin’s to capture the immediate likeness and character of your subject in just a few quick strokes. You will then learn the art of watercolour wash, working in and outside of the line to capture the liveliness of the figure or face. Expect a lot of fun and laughs!

All materials, tools and refreshments are included in the workshop price. You will need to bring 8 to 10 subjects to draw from photos, friends, family and pets, some full body images as well as just the head and shoulders.

Outline of your time with us
Meet tutor Sarah and enjoy refreshments on arrival
Sarah will inspire you with examples of artwork and demonstrate the technique
Working at a quick pace you will practice the technique
Enjoy mid session refreshments and snack
Continue your illustration

🍂Pyrography Workshop🍂
Pyrography is the art of burning on wood and other materials. It is one of the oldest traditional crafts and was known as Pokerwork. The technique is like drawing or painting using a hot pen with a wire tip. Join Bob who will be able to inspire you to create your own burnt designs, you don’t have to be artistic to do this craft. You are welcome to bring your own line drawings to use or bring your wooden bowls to decorate if you are into woodturning, the bowls or platters need to be turned from sycamore, beech or birch.

What you will learn:

1) Learn how to use pyrography equipment

2) Learn the techniques of pyrography art & craft

What you will make: In this workshop you will design & create your own handcrafted cheese or bread board.

Outline of the day:

Welcome and refreshments
Introduction to the equipment and brief history of the craft
Learn the techniques and experiment with a series of small projects
Morning break
Continue with projects
Two course lunch
Begin to create your own breadboard or cheeseboard
Afternoon tea & cake
Regroup and finish
Recap & depart with your own delightful pieces of work
What is included: – Everything is included, all tools and materials, plus refreshments and a two course lunch. Nothing to bring, just yourself.
