I’m excited to share some upcoming opportunities for community Christmas sing-alongs!

✨ Community Sing-Along Dates & Venues ✨

📅 Sat 6th Dec 4-6pm – Melbourn Hub
📅 Weds 17th December 7pm - British Queen Pub Meldreth,
📅Saturday 20th December 4pm Holy Trinity Church, Meldreth
📅Sunday 21st December 6pm All Saints Church, Melbourn

Community outreach singing is one of my favourite parts of choir life. Music brings people together, It lifts spirits, provides a moment of escape, and even offers real health benefits.

In addition to these open sing-alongs, we’ll also be performing at a private event in Meldreth at The Memory Cafe (Saturday 15th December) , — spreading a little extra joy wherever we can.

Now is the perfect time to join Lift Off Choir in Meldreth as we rehearse for upcoming events. It’s a fun, friendly group of local people who simply love raising their voices together. Plus, we fully believe in the importance of tea, coffee, biscuits, and a good chat during the break! ☕🍪😄 We rehearse on Wednesdays at the Village Hall 1.30-2.45pm. This week as a one off we will be rehearsing Friday 28th November 1.30-2.45pm.

I also run a lovely Tuesday-morning group in Bassingbourn, perfect for anyone who enjoys a daytime sing in great company.

Our choir autumn season is starting!

Join us from Wednesday 10th September, 1.30–2.45pm for a fun, friendly, and sociable singing session. We’re a mixed group of men and women who simply love raising our voices together and creating something special.

✨ No prior singing experience needed
✨ No sheet music – we learn by ear
✨ We sing popular, modern feel-good songs you’ll know and love

Today was our last choir session before summer break. And I was absolutely delighted to be presented with some beautiful gifts.

I was also treated to a surprise song, that the choir had been organising and rehearsing without me knowing. What an inspiring, thoughtful and fun, community Lift Off Choir is.

Another weekend, and another concert for Lift Off Choir.
This time, we found ourselves joining the Memory Cafe for a Summer Soiree, which offered us a fabulous opportunity to try out some new repertoire as well as some old favourites.

This event is not only a chance for us to perform and show off all the hard work we have been doing rehearsing. It is also an opportunity to share music as a powerful and therapeutic tool for those living with memory loss.

It is a great privilege to witness the Impact of music on people who sadly can struggle to communicate verbally in conversation and yet suddenly can sing along to all the words of the songs.

We are so happy to be able to visit the Memory Café, and look forward to joining them again at Christmas.

A little flash back to April, when Lift Off Choir took part in a wonderful concert at Royston Church, in aid of the charity Homestart.

After singing a magical featured set, of 4 our our own arrangements, we went on to sing several songs with three other choirs under the leadership of Linda Bance. To sing with so many voices was a real treat.
This is the second time we have taken part in this event and what a joy it was.

Throughout the year our performances and community outreach projects take us to a variety of venues.

Two events in December at Holy Trinity Church, Meldreth and All Saints Church Melbourn had us performing in valued historical buildings at the heart of our community. Singing for hundreds of people was as always an honour and the candlelit atmosphere always gets us in the mood for the festive season.

One of our favourite dates of the year is our annual visit to the Meldreth Memory Cafe’s Christmas party.

This incredible group, offers a monthly support meeting and events for those living with dementia or memory loss and their carers to get together and socialise.

This event is not only a chance for us to perform and show off all the hard work we have been doing rehearsing. It is also an opportunity for a group sing along of favourite Christmas songs with the members of the Memory Cafe.
