You can now find the beautiful Ripple dress, cape and so much more at the stunning ahead of Saturdays ‘Women Who Make’ event.

The theme for the event this year is circular textiles and my goodness have then got a fun packed day organised for you. There are talks, interactive workshops, makers market a sustainable market and SO much more. The event is free. Free tickets available through Derbyshire Makes website:

It’s another chance for you to view your beautiful contributions on the dress. The dress, cape and other circular textile garments will also be exhibited.

On the 10th October I’ll be at Masson Mills for the ‘Women Who Make’ festival and I cannot wait.

The Ripple Effect, community dress we stitched together earlier this year is the hero image for this year’s event. Seeing it exhibited in this beautiful textile mill is going to be something really special.

Alongside the dress, a collection of upcycled denim jackets and reloved clothing by some incredibly talented makers will be on show, a whole day celebrating what happens when creatives come together with a shared belief that what we make and how we make it matters.

There really is something about being in a room full of women like that, women who make, inspire and transform, It fills you up in a way that’s hard to describe until you’ve felt it.

I’ll be running a hands on workshop where you weave recycled fabric scraps into old denim and stitch over them using sashiko inspired stitching, creating a beautiful unique patch to take home and patch over something you love.

No experience is needed, there are no rules. You just need to bring along a willingness to have a go.

What an absolute honour it was to attend this amazing pupil conference with the amazing Caz Moon talking about her work history and her participation in the project with her awesome denim jacket. Can you spot Caz in action and the ripple dress in the video? 🩵🩵🩵

We are absolutely delighted to present a donation of £432.80 to the Marine Conservation Society raised through The Ripple Effect project ticket and cake sales, at the dress reveal evening on the 8th May.

Handing over this cheque feels like the most perfect full circle. THANK YOU to every person who gave their time and creativity to make the dress what she is, everyone who came through the doors on the night of the reveal, donated so generously and bought cake and bakes. Every single penny of this has come from you.

Your generosity is going directly to a cause that started this whole project ‘PROTECTING OUR OCEANS’

If you haven’t yet come to see the dress and Caz Moon jacket in person, they are on display right here at the Museum of Making Derby Museums until the beginning of October.

This autumn, Women Who Make returns to Masson Mills with more ways to join in, take part and explore for a free day filled with creativity, inspiring women, hands-on making and ideas for a more sustainable future.

With Masson Mills opening up more of its unique spaces, alongside additional spaces hosted by Home by Milestone, even more of this extraordinary site will come to life through talks, exhibitions, workshops, walks, demonstrations, marketplaces, music and collective making.

Inspired by World Circular Textiles Day, this year’s programme will explore the full life of textiles – from how fibres are grown and materials are made to how they can be repaired, reused and reimagined – connecting Masson Mills’ remarkable textile heritage with new ideas for a more sustainable and circular future.
