We are absolutely delighted to present a donation of £432.80 to the Marine Conservation Society raised through The Ripple Effect project ticket and cake sales, at the dress reveal evening on the 8th May.

Handing over this cheque feels like the most perfect full circle. THANK YOU to every person who gave their time and creativity to make the dress what she is, everyone who came through the doors on the night of the reveal, donated so generously and bought cake and bakes. Every single penny of this has come from you.

Your generosity is going directly to a cause that started this whole project ‘PROTECTING OUR OCEANS’

If you haven’t yet come to see the dress and Caz Moon jacket in person, they are on display right here at the Museum of Making Derby Museums until the beginning of October.

🧵 Women Who Make Festival returns to Masson Mills

This autumn, Women Who Make returns to Masson Mills with more ways to join in, take part and explore for a free day filled with creativity, inspiring women, hands-on making and ideas for a more sustainable future.

With Masson Mills opening up more of its unique spaces, alongside additional spaces hosted by Home by Milestone, even more of this extraordinary site will come to life through talks, exhibitions, workshops, walks, demonstrations, marketplaces, music and collective making.

Inspired by World Circular Textiles Day, this year’s programme will explore the full life of textiles – from how fibres are grown and materials are made to how they can be repaired, reused and reimagined – connecting Masson Mills’ remarkable textile heritage with new ideas for a more sustainable and circular future.

We cannot keep our EXCITEMENT in any longer!

We are so proud to announce that YOUR work in the form of our stunning wearble dress is now on display at the beautiful MUSEUM OF MAKING in Derby https://www.facebook.com/derbymuseums where all of your stunning creativity can now be seen by everyone who walks through those doors. We really do hope you feel as proud and excited as we do.

Please do go and visit her, find your piece and share your story. Take your friends and family and know that what you have made together is now part of our extended story of raising awareness of the devastation happening in our oceans.

The dress and Caz Moon wonderful upcycled denim jacket will be on display until Sunday 4th October 2026.

The fabulous Museum of Making is truly amazing and has so much to offer all interests. Entry to the museum is completely FREE and they have a fab cafe with great food.

Last week I had a meeting with two lovely ladies at The Museum of Making in Derby.

I am so incredibly proud and excited to announce that the Ripple Effect Dress will be exhibited here from Monday 13th July until the beginning of October 2026, how exciting is this? It will exhibited just off the first floor gift shop, more details to follow.

The Ripple Effect Project was a 9 month community project funded by Derbyshire Makes where over 100 hands and hearts created a wearable piece of art, inspired by sir David Attenborough’s film ‘Ocean’. It is a true testament to what happens when a community is given space, support and the belief to make something extraordinary from nothing new, just everything we already owned. Every stitch and panel on this dress belongs to someone and soon it will ripple its way to Derby too.

While I was there I had a visit to the fabulous field to fashion exhibition, if you haven’t been already then do go have a look as it is incredibly informative, tactile, colourful, creative and truly inspiring project.

This morning The Ripple Effect co-created dress is popping at Transition Crich's Share and Repair Cafe.

Transition Crich have been huge supporters and contributors to the project throughout so we are very happy to be able to visit today and showcase the dress.

The Share and Repair Cafe is on Crich Glebe Community Centre from 10am to 1pm today and is well worth a visit.

💙🌊 World Ocean Day 🌊💙

Today feels like one of the most important days in our calendar and this year it means more to us than ever because everything we have done with The Ripple Effect has been with a love for our oceans, a response to what we saw in the film and simply couldn’t ignore. The beauty of what lives beneath that surface, the devastation of what we are doing to it and the urgent, powerful and hopeful truth that it is not too late to change course.

Our oceans cover over 70% of our planet. They regulate our climate, feed billions of people and are home to the most extraordinary living world we have ever known and they are under threat from bottom trawling, plastic pollution, fast fashion and the throwaway culture that has forgotten the true cost of everything it consumes.

But today is not just about grief, it’s about love, action and the belief that every single one of us has the power to make a ripple! Whether that’s choosing to buy less, mend more, use what you already own, support ocean conservation or simply talk to someone about why it matters it all counts.

On this World Ocean Day we want to say thank you to every single person who has been part of The Ripple Effect. You chose creativity over consumption. Community over convenience and love for this planet over looking the other way.

Can we just take a moment to celebrate these beautiful humans for the part they played in bringing The Ripple Effect to life.

People were asked to up-cycle their denim jackets to help carry the same message as the dress by using what they already owned, raising the awareness that slow fashion isn’t a sacrifice, it’s a choice! All that is needed is imagination and a willingness to try.

What we didn’t expect was how moving it would be seeing them all together on that runway. Every single jacket was different and came with its very own story and worn with such pride and joy.

To every single person in these photos THANK YOU! You didn’t just up-cycle a jacket, you became a part of a movement and we are SO incredibly proud of every single on if you.
