A first of a few snapshots taken in the Marquee on the park today. The marquee has 30 varied and talented artists exhibiting over the weekend. The ambience and atmosphere is fabulous, come along tomorrow and enjoy the art, music and food - 10am - 4pm. There are over 80 artists in sixteen venues fairly centrally in the village and all can be reached by foot. Treat yourself or someone special to a bespoke individual piece of art, clothing or jewellery. Hope to catch up with you tomorrow x

We are delighted to announce that 'Green Glade, Cool Water' created by Maria Bolton, is the third winner of the Longcliffe Prize. In her own words:

'The traces of early industrialisation are everywhere: from the epic mills to the millstones scattered through Ambergate Woods, we have left our mark. Green Glade, Cool Water is, in its own way, a testament to this.
Generally, I walk with my sketchbook and camera and, most importantly, my faithful dog, Bodhi. These convivial wanderings offer glimmers of inspiration, and this green glade is one of our favourite summer walks. Shaded from the heat and offering the chance to stand in cool, clear water, this place brings peace and refreshment.
But it also brings hope. This waterway, in all its beauty, is itself a remnant of industry and would once have formed part of the deafening machinery of man. Green Glade, Cool Water is a testament to the gentle, forgiving power of nature — to what nature can reclaim, given a little space and time, to standing in cool water, light filtering through green trees, insects buzzing. To the possibility of healing.'

There is a very handy shortcut between two of our venues!! The park and the church are linked by a path and a set of stairs making your trail experience much smoother and quicker! It is shown on the map in the programme you will get when purchasing your ticket, and here is a little video to help! It looks like more steps than it is 😉
