A little sketch from Snape!

I drew this the other day while spending time around the Maltings, and I loved the looseness and vibrancy of it so much that I’ve turned it into a print.

It’ll be available in the Quay Gallery from today for £30, alongside my other work in our Land and Sea exhibition.

I’m really enjoying letting some of these quick, imperfect little sketches become finished pieces in their own right. They capture a place in a slightly more illustrative way, which I’m loving exploring at the moment.

We made it to the Bank Holiday Weekend! 🎉

I hope you have lots of lovely plans and enjoy these last few days of summer.

If you’re wondering what to do, then why not head over to Snape Maltings?

It’s the last couple of days of their fabulous Summer at Snape, and there’s lots going on – music, art and family activities, as well as all the lovely shops, fantastic food and drink and, of course, those beautiful walks along the river and through the reedbeds.

I shall be in the Quay Gallery all weekend, talking to people about my artwork and Hilary’s fantastic artist books and sketchbooks. So if you’re heading to Snape, please do pop in and say hello – we’d love to see you!

Whatever you’re doing this Bank Holiday weekend, I hope you have a fantastic time, enjoy the last little bits of summer and make some lovely memories. 💕

My Feathered Friends have been getting out and about lately!

These little birds started life as individual paintings, each with their own meaning and story, and I still get such a buzz seeing them all together as a collection.

The Feathered Friends greetings card boxes are £20 and include six beautiful quality cards, one of each of the original birds, plus a little keepsake booklet telling you more about the paintings and the meaning behind them.

They’re lovely cards to actually send, but I also wanted them to feel like something thoughtful and meaningful enough to keep, frame or give as a gift.

The last few days have been a little hectic as I’ve been getting ready to open another exhibition.

The packing, printing, pricing, framing, lists, labels and last-minute panics were definitely stressful… but underneath all of that, I kept reminding myself just how lucky I am to be doing this.

A few years ago, having my artwork hanging in galleries and regularly putting on exhibitions was something I could only dream about.

Now it’s actually happening. Regularly!

I’m so pleased to be back at the Quay Gallery at Snape Maltings with the lovely Hilary Geelan for our Land and Sea exhibition.

We’ve now got everything set up, the walls are full, Hilary’s beautiful sketchbooks are out, and the space has finally come together.

If you get a chance to pop over and see us over the Bank Holiday weekend, please do – we’d absolutely love to see you!

Meanwhile, I’m just feeling very grateful that something which once felt like a distant dream has somehow become part of real life. 💕

With steady determination, the woodpecker keeps tapping away, undeterred by setbacks or obstacles. A reminder that persistence, patience and resilience often achieve more than grand gestures.

Meet Carla Elizabeth, a Suffolk-based artist inspired by the coast, countryside and wildlife of East Anglia. Working in acrylics, oils, pastels and mixed media, Carla creates expressive pieces full of colour, character and a real love of the natural world.

After a career in graphic design, Carla returned to painting in 2022 and has since built a beautiful collection of work, from atmospheric seascapes to contemporary bird studies. She also runs welcoming art workshops, helping others enjoy creativity in a relaxed and supportive way.

Following a breast cancer diagnosis in 2026, Carla created 'Carla’s T**s' — a thoughtful and humorous collection of bird paintings designed to spark conversations around breast awareness. Alongside her 'Feathered Friends' collection, the work celebrates creativity, connection and hope.

Carla regularly exhibits across Suffolk and Norfolk and works from her garden studio near Woodbridge.

What an afternoon! 💕🍰🥂

Yesterday was my Afternoon T***y Tea and it was such a brilliant few hours of fun, chat, laughter and a lot of cake!

I’m only sorry I couldn’t invite more people – my garden definitely has its limits – but I’m so grateful to everyone who came, helped, baked, bought cake, joined in and splashed the cash for Breast Cancer Now.

We’ve now raised more than £830 which is just amazing and completely smashed my £500 target .

Based on the donations that should qualify for Gift Aid, I reckon we’re only about £36 in Gift Aid-eligible donations away from reaching £1,000!

So… shall we get it over the line?
