Eight wonderful people, eight beautiful poppy paintings, and not one of them the same!

What a lovely morning we had at today’s Poppy Fields painting workshop!

One of the things I love most about running these sessions is seeing how differently everyone interprets the same subject.

For me, creativity isn’t about everyone following exactly the same steps and producing an identical painting. It’s about exploring, experimenting, learning a few new skills and, most importantly, enjoying the process.

Of course, I’m there to demonstrate methods, share techniques, offer guidance and help when needed. But I also want everyone to feel confident enough to make their own choices, try something different and develop their own way of painting.

Some people enjoy following along closely, while others prefer to go off in their own direction. Both are absolutely fine with me!

And just look at the results! Eight completely individual paintings, each with its own personality. I think that’s something worth celebrating.

I think I might actually be starting to fall in love with watercolours!

I’ve never really thought of myself as being very good at them, but I’ve had such a lovely time just playing and experimenting with this one.

It was inspired by a beautiful Cotswolds sunset and although it hasn’t turned out exactly as I imagined, I actually rather like it.

There’s something so nice about creating just for the sake of it… no pressure, no plan, no need for it to become anything – just a bit of time to enjoy painting and see what happens. I think I needed that.

I’ve also done a few mock up of it mounted and framed… just for fun! 💕

Introducing my Sutton Hoo Stag!

This is the painting that will be inspiring everyone joining me for the Sip and Paint evening at Sutton Hoo on 27th October.

There are plenty of deer roaming around Sutton Hoo, and a stag even features on the famous Anglo-Saxon sceptre, so it seemed rather fitting to paint this magnificent animal against a beautiful Suffolk landscape.

And now I’d love to help you paint your very own version!

You don’t need any painting experience, just a willingness to have a go. I’ll guide you through the process, step by step, and hopefully you’ll leave with a painting you’re proud of!

I’ve been playing with a new idea… 🧩🐦

Karen has inspired me to think about launching my own range of jigsaws, so naturally my first thought was Feathered Friends!

Before I get too carried away and spend a few hundred pounds having them made, I’d really love to know what you think — and, more importantly, whether this is something you would actually buy.

This would be a 1,000-piece, UK-made jigsaw, featuring six of my Feathered Friends artworks. The quality of the pieces is really lovely, and I’d include a copy of my Feathered Friends booklet with every puzzle, so you can discover the stories and meanings behind each of the birds too.

I’m thinking £25.

Would you buy one? Please let me know in the comments — and do be honest! If there’s enough interest, I might just take the plunge. 💕

Today is the final day for me and Karen at THE CRAFT HOUSE!

We’ve had such a brilliant week and have loved seeing everyone who has popped in to chat, browse, admire and buy our work. Thank you so much to everyone who has supported us – it really does mean a lot. 💕

I had such a lovely day at RSPB Minsmere yesterday, exhibiting at the Makers Market. Thank you to everyone who stopped for a chat or bought cards and prints – it’s always lovely to see my birds and seascapes heading off to new homes!

Today I’m back at The Craft House in Woodbridge, reunited with Karen after leaving her in charge yesterday!

There are just two days left to catch our exhibition before we pack up. Pop by today or tomorrow to browse my paintings, cards and prints alongside Karen’s beautiful photography.

Today you’ll find me, and some of my birds at Minsmere!

There’s a craft show in the Discovery Centre and I’m trying it out for the first time. It should be a beautiful day at Minsmere, so if you fancy a wander, some birdwatching and a little browse of some lovely original things, come and say hello!

Meanwhile, Karen will be holding the fort at The Craft House in Woodbridge, where you’ll find some of my seascapes alongside Karen’s lovely photography.
