From our first class to our last class of 2025, SING! has been a highlight of my week. Taking over a choir has been an absolute joy and working with such friendly, kind and fun people has made my job so much easier! Don’t get me wrong, there’s a huge amount of work that happens behind the scenes to get to a public performance ready; from the planning, arranging scores & lyric sheets, recording backing tracks for practises and performances, the list goes on, but the members of SING! make it all worth while and seeing them improve in their own abilities and as a choir is so inspiring.
Our first public event was at Marlborough Common for the celebration of VE80 and we were asked by Clare Williams, from Marlborough Town Council if the choir could perform some songs from the era to help create an atmosphere for the celebrations in Marlborough. Alongside performing at Marlborough Rugby Club, we also performed after the beacon was lit on Marlborough Common which was a real moment to be proud of! Children from Preshute Primary School choir also sang with SING! which really gave a feeling of community spirit!
Later in the year, we were asked to perform at the light switch on event in Marlborough and SING! once again gave fantastic performances for the community and shared some Christmas spirit!
Part of singing in a choir is about making friends and the vibe in the group is like a family where everyone looks out for each other and genuinely cares. We welcome anyone who enjoys singing and not necessarily those who can read music. It’s open to all and we sing a variety of genres!
The choir kindly sang for members of Marlborough innovation lunch club at Marlborough Cricket Club and ended our season singing carols for residents at Merlin Court, Marlborough.
It’s now time to rest and enjoy Christmas and to start planning what’s next;)!..
