I have enjoyed arts and crafts and nature since I was a child and have spent many happy hours over the years completing art and craft projects. As an adult I’ve had over 20 years’ experience working in the health industry. In this time, I have worked with adults and young people with learning disabilities and mental health problems as well as people with physical or medical disabilities which restrict their every-day lives. During this time, I have regularly used art, craft, music, horticulture and nature activities to promote wellbeing and self-worth. Art activities can be completed just for the pleasure of it and the happiness of completing something that makes the person smile or gives them a sense of achievement, but they can also be used as an occupational therapy tool to develop fine motor skills or as a small step on the way to a much larger achievement. I personally use my favourite crafts to relax, practice mindfulness and to de-stress….and if I create something lovely then it is a bonus! Salvador
I am a fan of supporting anyone who wants to be creative. I enjoy seeing people grow in confidence so they can shine their truth. Creativity has been very good for my wellbeing in the past and allows me to be fully relaxed in my own skin. My creative side has grown in the last year and I have been able to overcome my music fear by beginning to play the piano. I am also a freelance writer and have a great deal of experience in Branding. I create coherent social media campaigns and integrate web design that allows individuals and businesses to grow online and have their own voice and a social platform to be proud of. Julie
I am a fine arts artist and worked for many years in a health and social care sector. Some of my art successes are happy accidents, sometimes messy and unstructured. Since 2011 I have been involved in several exhibitions, festivals and workshops. I have facilitated art, craft, gardening programme delivery for people with learning difficulties and worked within a theatre group enabling the members to make their own sets, props, rehearse and perform their own productions. Materials don’t really matter anything can be used as an art project! Denise
I have taught music for 30 plus years and have also worked with a variety of people with learning difficulties to achieve their goals. Over the years I have worked within the health and social care sector. This included young people in rehab, supported living and care home residential settings and young people and adults with learning difficulties both physical, medical and those suffering with mental health problems. I have used music, art and craft to help in the promotion of wellbeing, building confidence and self-esteem and enabling people to perform and entertain. I believe that by being involved with the arts that it can have a lasting and powerful effect on an individual's health. Art programmes can deliver all kinds of health benefits, they can be fun and a great way to socialise and make friends.
