The lighthouse room, an installation by at our current exhibition in Margate

In addition to 4 original works, Martin Whatson decided to recreate the atmosphere of the stone pier - the « Harbour Arm » - at night. The artist used the Starry Night color pallete to paint the tags on the walls, his signature style being softly revealed by the beam emanating from a reproduction of Margate’s lighthouse.

“Dolphin lamps” are not only lining the embankments of the Thames ; in the Victorian era, many English towns have seen statues of fishes with intertwined tails flourish on their street posts. Margate is no exception, they can be found on the promenade all along Main Sands.

For our group show about Margate, El Pez invited his signature character in a new version of these lampposts, with a heavy load of colours and positivism!
