Join us for a screening of this classic film, celebrating the joy, defiance and style of British youth culture in the 1950s and 1960s.

Jimmy is nineteen, a mod, a face, a nobody. He lives for the weekend: the pills, the dancing, the scooter, the gang. But when the dream starts to crack, he heads to Brighton in search of something he can’t quite name. What follows is one of British cinema’s most electrifying portraits of youth, identity and the desperate need to belong.

Sixty years ago, mods and rockers descended on our seafront. Now we’re bringing that story back to the big screen.

Join us for a night of archive film, Quadrophenia on the big screen ARK, followed by live music and a mod vs rocker afterparty at HOUSE OF FRIENDS, FOOD + SOUND 🛵

Plus - were you there? Did you live it? Bring your photos, your stories, your badges. We’ll be documenting Margate memories on the night.

We’re looking for shorts, features and artists’ moving image that celebrate diversity, change, rebellion, feminism and bold, unique personal & cultural identities. A celebration of independent world cinema and visual arts in Margate.

We’re looking for 2 Young Programming Assistants (18–26, Kent-based) to watch and evaluate films, attend monthly programming calls, and help shape what our audiences see this autumn.

Flexible hours, expenses covered, and real festival experience with opportunities to get involved further too.

To continue Jewish Culture Month in collaboration with we are screening ‘The Infidel.’ An identity crisis comedy centred on Mahmud Nasir, a successful businessman was owner and East End Muslim as he discovers that’s he’s adopted - and Jewish.

Before the film we’ll be screening the short film ‘Call Me Alvy’ by Alexei Slater

Screening TOMORROW at 2pm, we have Samuel-613 a short fictional film featuring Shmilu, a Hasidic Jew in crisis. Torn between his community and the romantic possibilities of trendy East London.
This film is alongside feature length film Canvey: The Promised Island and 2 other short films exploring Jewish Culture.
