Opening this week: the sixth exhibition in the Maternity Series ‘Souvenir Shop’ by Julie Caves and Alice Herrick

As the summer draws to a close, everything must go…

Alice Herrick & Julie Caves invite you
to climb the hill above the sea,
to find a souvenir…
a memento, a keepsake…
a piece of work…
a work of art,
to have and to hold…
a drawing, a painting, an object of desire.

Julie has gone through the paintings and ceramics at the back of her studio. Alice has selected works from her extensive archives of works on paper, small paintings and sculptures. All to be shown and sold at special prices for the SOUVENIR SHOP show.

‘Souvenir Shop’ opens on 17 September and continues until 26 September 2026. The exhibition will be open Thursday.- Saturday 12-5pm, or outside of those times by appointment.

All are welcome to join the artists for drinks on Saturday 19 September 2-5pm.

For those unable to visit in person, the Online Viewing Room can be accessed via the link in our bio, which will be updated following the opening with installation images.

'Leisure' curated by AOAP Projects continues this week, open today, Saturday and Sunday 11am-5pm.

Theo Gorst is an exciting new talent, having recently graduated with an MA in fine art from Norwich University. His figurative paintings of people in tracksuits, often with their limbs entwined, have a youthful, fresh, painterly feel.

Opening Friday: 'Leisure' curated by AOAP Projects

AOAP Projects presents Leisure, a solo exhibition of paintings by Theo Gorst at Liminal Gallery, Margate, from 15 August to 12 September 2026. The exhibition forms part of Liminal Gallery’s Maternity Series and opens with a private view on Friday 14 August.

Theo is an exciting new talent, having recently graduated with an MA in fine art from Norwich University. His figurative paintings of people in tracksuits, often with their limbs entwined, have a youthful, fresh, painterly feel. AOAP Projects first exhibited his work at their annual fundraiser with War Child UK, the Sound & Vision auction, where it attracted more bids than any other artist’s.

This is a chance to buy Theo’s work before he is inevitably picked up by a gallery, and his prices go out of reach. AOAP Projects has a strong track record of featuring promising students in its shows. They featured Antonia Showering, Shqúelle Whyte and Okiki Knife, all while they were still at art school.

Theo Gorst said: “The paintings in Leisure sit somewhere between rest and unease. I’m interested in the point at which an ordinary scene stops feeling ordinary.”

All are welcome to join the artist for the opening on Friday 14 August 6-8pm with drinks.

The exhibition continues until 12 September and will be open Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sundays 10.30am-5pm, or outside of those times by appointment.

For those unable to visit in person, the Online Viewing Room can be accessed via the link in our bio, which will be updated following the opening with installation images.

Opening Friday: ‘Intensive Care’ by Thelma Speirs, the fourth exhibition in our Maternity Series.

Opening Saturday 12-4pm: ‘In Her Steps, The Card Game’ Mercedes

Margate artist Mercedes Lucy transforms handmade ceramic tiles into a playable celebration of extraordinary women and q***r icons. The exhibition debuts two card game decks - The Feminist Card Game and The Q***r Card Game - with every card recreated as a unique ceramic tile, forming an interactive installation where portraiture meets participation. Each figure is scored across categories inspired by their life, achievements and impact, designed to spark conversation and debate rather than provide definitive answers.

The Q***r Card Game launches to coincide with Pride Month. Ten percent of proceeds from every card game sold will be shared between Oasis Domestic Abuse Service and trans-led, nationwide charity Not a Phase, supporting vital work within the local community and beyond.

Individual ceramic tiles will be available to purchase, alongside complete card game decks - allowing conversations begun in the gallery to continue at kitchen tables, in classrooms and among friends.

All are welcome to join the artist for the opening on Saturday 11 July 12-4pm with drinks.

The exhibition continues until 27 July and will be open Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sundays 10am-4pm, or outside of those times by appointment.

For those unable to visit in person, the Online Viewing Room can be accessed via the link in our bio, which will be updated following the opening with installation images.
