This is me circa 2008 I think, the first studio I ever work in, the now defunct Tat2U down the affectionately know smelly ally in Reading town centre.
To say it feels like a life time ago is an understatement! I’d been getting tattooed by Steve Clarke aka Klunky for a good few years by this point, when he finally relented and took me under his wing. I’d already been a bit of a kitchen wizard by this point but Klunky saw my potential.
Truth be told at this stage of my life I was very restless and impulsive so I didn’t stick it out for long before I moved on, of course I thought I knew better.
Steve didn’t hold it against me thankfully and we remain friends.
I’ve moved around a lot in my career and it’s not always helped my progression, I guess what I’m trying to get at is learning to tattoo isn’t a one size fits all and your journey is your journey and that might not look the same as the person next to you. Just do your best and try and be a good perso .
