There’s only 10 days left for prospective filmmakers so submit their project to MTFF26.

That’s just 10 days to give your film an opportunity to be screened at a Section B BIFA qualifying festival.

If you want to be a part of Nottinghamshire’s biggest film festival with a 5-star rating on FilmFreeway, get your project to us by June 30th.

Well it’s safe to say that Reel Futures - LGBTQIA+ Voices screening was a huge success! 🤩🎉🥳

Last Tuesday we saw what Reel Futures is all about - gathering wonderful folk together to watch amazing films they can connect to, and to network with some of the most talented, resourceful people working in the industry today.

As we put Reel Futures on pause (our festival weekend is soon approaching 👀) we would like to thank all of our partners who have brought this screening series to life.

So a huge thank you to our amazing MTFF alumni filmmakers, we couldn’t have built a better programme without you 🤝

To Kin (our new Assistant Festival Director), who hosted our filmmaker Q&A (and did an amazing job of it!)💙

And our amazing volunteers, who dedicate their time to supporting our monthly screenings 🫶🏼🎬

We’d also like to especially thank the team at West Notts College who continue to support our vision of providing pathways into the film industry for young people in the East Midlands.

As you can see, for MTFF alumni, your film’s impact reaches beyond our festival weekend, capturing new audiences through our monthly screening events.

Whether you make film to inspire, or to connect people together, submitting your project to MTFF means that your project has the opportunity to spark hope and thought, again and again and again.

To make our Final Submissions Deadline, submit your project via FilmFreeway before June 30th - this is your last chance to be a part of MTFF26.

Today we’re celebrating the power of football ⚽️ 🤝

With the World Cup starting today, we thought we’d cast our eyes back to ‘Granny’ (Dir. Francis Castelli) which we screened at MTFF23.

This moving narrative short dramatises the story of Lizzy Ashcroft - a pioneering force in women’s English footballing history.

Capturing Ashcroft’s love of the game, Castelli’s film shows how football has the power to unite us.

With that said, we wish a happy kick off to all football fans around the world 🌍 💙

We are still open for submissions, so if you have a narrative short that tells an important story, send it our way before June 30th via our FilmFreeway page 🫡

🎬MEET THE TEAM BEHIND MTFF26🎬

As Mansfield Town Film Festival enters its biggest year yet as a newly BIFA-qualifying film festival, we’re delighted to introduce the core delivery team who will be helping bring MTFF26 to life this September.

🎥Jay Martin
Festival Director

Founder of Mansfield Town Film Festival, Jay continues to lead the organisation’s vision, strategy and growth. Since launching MTFF in 2023, the festival has grown into Nottinghamshire’s largest film festival and recently achieved BIFA-qualifying status, placing Mansfield on the national film industry map.

🌟 Ciaran Shea
Assistant Festival Director - Experience & Engagement

Ciaran has been part of the MTFF journey since 2023 and has played a huge role in shaping the festival into what it is today. Having worn countless hats over the years, he’ll now lead on ensuring MTFF26 delivers the very best possible experience for filmmakers, audiences and guests alike.

🎞️Kin Bennett-Ross
Assistant Festival Director - Programming

Many of you will know Kin from our screening team and last year’s festival. After an incredibly impressive journey from volunteer to leadership team member, Kin will now lead on programming and work closely with our screeners to help curate the very best films for MTFF26.

We’re especially proud of this appointment because it perfectly reflects what MTFF is all about, creating opportunities, developing talent and helping passionate people progress within the organisation. Following in Ciaran’s footsteps, Kin has gone from standout volunteer to a core member of the leadership team in just over a year.

⚙️Derry Shillitto
Assistant Festival Director - Operations

Some of you may recognise Derry as an MTFF alumni filmmaker. Bringing a fantastic blend of filmmaking knowledge, technical expertise and project delivery experience, Derry will be responsible for ensuring the festival runs smoothly behind the scenes and that every screening looks and sounds its best.

📱Maya Saengkrachang
Social Media Lead

Maya continues in her role as Social Media Lead, helping us tell the story of MTFF, celebrate our filmmakers and engage audiences throughout the year.

Together, this team will lead the delivery of MTFF26 as we continue to grow the festival’s impact locally, nationally and internationally.

From volunteer screeners to leadership roles, from alumni filmmakers to festival staff, this team represents exactly what MTFF stands for: creating opportunities, championing talent and building something special right here in Mansfield.

As the festival continues to grow - particularly following our recent BIFA-qualifying status, having a strong leadership team around the organisation has never been more important, and we’re incredibly excited about what this group can achieve together over the coming months.

Please join us in congratulating Kin and Derry on their new roles, and celebrating Ciaran and Maya as they continue helping shape the future of MTFF.

🚀Onwards to MTFF26.

And just like that, we’ve reached our Final Submissions Deadline - this means that you have until the 30th of June to submit your project 🎥🍿

Variety is what makes MTFF programming so special - so on top of narrative shorts, we’d love to see your documentaries, animations and music videos on our screens.

This is our first year being a BIFA qualifying festival, so MTFF26 will be a landmark moment in our story.

We’d love for you to be part of it, so submit your film through FilmFreeway before the 30th of June - it’ll be your last chance! 👀

Some awesome reviews from our talented MTFF alumni filmmakers 🤩💙🎬

The appreciation we receive from our filmmakers is something we aim to give back ten fold. Being an MTFF alumni doesn’t just mean getting your film screened at the Mansfield Palace Theatre (although that’s pretty cool!).

When you are successfully screened at MTFF, it means investing in your film: giving it the opportunity to be screened at our monthly events, spotlighted on our social media channels, and for you to join a true community where you’ll be continually valued.

So… if you want to submit to an INCREDIBLE, truly excellent, GEM of a festival (and that’s not in our words!) check out our FilmFreeway page linked below:

This is the last month for you to be able to submit to MTFF26.

Best of luck!

Happy Volunteer Appreciation Week!

Today we want to celebrate our amazing volunteers, who are integral part of our screening process, and who support the delivery of our Reel Futures screenings.

MTFF would not be what it is without the support of people who really love film 🎬💙

We’re looking to expand our voluntary team with friendly and dynamic people to help support our festival in person, assisting with:

Ticketing 🎟️
Ushering and Wayfinding 🧭
Artist Liason 🤝
Hosting Filmmaker Q&As 🎤

This could be a great opportunity for:

People interested in the film industry, looking to expand their network and gain festival work experience…

People who love cinema in the East Midlands, and want to be part of a film festival run by like minded individuals…

Whether you want to volunteer to gain some work experience, or because you simply love cinema, we’re welcoming applications.

Send a CV and covering email to [email protected] to express your interest.

We can’t wait to see you join team MTFF! 👀
