After three successful years producing ‘a terrific roster of stand up’ (The Independent), this years festival has been named one of ‘the UK's best comedy festivals’ (The Skinny) and one of the 2016 festival picks this year (City Life), This ‘go-to comedy event’ (The Skinny) is Europe's only Comedy Festival of its kind; confirmed to take place at
various venues across Manchester from Friday 6th to Sunday 15th October. The festival is directed by the Frog and Buckets Jessica Toomey

Why Women in Comedy Festival exists…

At the heart of the festival is creating a supportive space for women to perform, try out new work and build confidence on stage.

From first shows and open mics to taking work to bigger festivals, WICF is about giving performers the space to grow without the pressure. Aimee shares why that mission still matters and why there’s still work to do in creating more opportunities for women in comedy!

A little bit of Women in Comedy Festival history 🎭🐝

The festival began right here in Manchester in 2012, founded by Hazel O’Keefe to create a supportive space for women to perform comedy.

Since then, it’s grown into a much-loved part of Manchester’s comedy scene, bringing performers and audiences together across the Northern Quarter every October.
