Exhibition highlight!

We’re thrilled to see Santiago Yahuarcani: The Beginning of Knowledge featured in Frieze as one of 'The Ten Best Shows in the UK and Ireland of 2025'.

Writer Sean Burns calls the exhibition “rich, layered and accomplished”, alongside Núria Frigola’s beautiful and heartening film, which shows the artist in Pebas, Peru, sharing ancestral knowledge with his children.

In this first international solo exhibition by the artist, the exhibition explores Yahuarcani’s use of traditional bark (llachama) and natural pigments to tell powerful stories of memory, land, and survival.

⚡Following the premiere at the Whitworth, the exhibition will tour to Museu de Arte de São Paulo Assis Chateaubriand, São Paulo and Museo Universitario del Chopo, UNAM, Mexico City in 2026 and 2027.

This event for World Menopause Day is organised by the Whitworth Age Friendly Programme as an on-going project focussed on creativity as part of the menopause journey. The Creative Menopause series explored how being creative can support you in practical ways as well as supporting your physical and mental health.

10.30am – arrival and register

Our Handmade group has been busy sculpting clay models inspired by the upcoming Santiago Yahuarcani: The Beginning of Knowledge exhibition opening 4th July 2025.

Working from spirit animal creations made by Webster’s Primary School, these clay sculptures have taken on a new lease of life, connecting with our climate and natural environment.
