Love HOME? HOME is a place for curiosity seekers, for lovers of the dramatic, the digital and the deeply engaging, for radicals and reciprocators, in the heart of Manchester. Our two theatres are a playful platform for new, commissioned work. Our five cinema screens light up with challenging, independent, provoking films. The gallery space

is home to the very best in contemporary art. HOME is for everyone. We like to think of it as a place where you can engage with other arts lovers through our exciting and inspiring events. That goes for our page, too. Here, we’ll be sharing images, videos and other updates from our theatres, exhibitions, cinemas, events, bookshop, bar and restaurant. This week, we're excited to bring Pedro Almodóvar’s Bitter Christmas to our screens, a magnificent melodrama where love, loss and creativity collide. Ridley Scott’s The Dog Stars, starring Jacob Elordi and Margaret Qualley, imagines life in a post-apocalyptic world, while Yeon Sang-ho’s Colony, delivers a gripping new zombie thriller.

Plus, don’t miss I Want Your S*x starring Olivia Wilde and Cooper Hoffman, a special 35mm screening of Looking for Mr. Goodbar as part of our Rogue Hollywood season, Cruising introduced by film programmer Ellen Smith, and Jubilee introduced by Rachel Hayward, Head of Film Strategy at HOME.

We're excited to announce that applications are now open for this year's BFI Academy Introductory course!

BFI Film Academy Introductory Courses are for young people aged 16–19, or up to 25 if you have an EHCP, who want to explore what a future in film could look like.

You’ll get hands-on experience across different areas of filmmaking, including screenwriting, cinematography, sound, directing, production and editing, while learning directly from people working in the industry.

At HOME, you’ll become part of a production team and work together to create your own professional-standard short film. Along the way, you’ll take part in practical workshops and masterclasses, build new skills, meet industry professionals and discover the different routes you could take into a career in film and TV.

Eligibility 👇

📽️ Suitable for 16 - 19 years olds, or up to 25 if you have an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP)
📽️ No prior filmmaking experience is required - just a passion for film!

BFI Film Academy is a free, UK-wide training programme for 16–25-year-olds looking to get started in the film and TV industry. It offers a hands-on, collaborative filmmaking experience, with a strong focus on developing technical and transferable skills.

As the BFI Film Academy Hub for the North West, we provide a welcoming local space for young people aged 16 to 25 to develop skills, meet industry professionals and access career support, throughout the year.
