DIY Theatre Company DIY is an established theatre company of learning-disabled performers, supported by ACE.

Our vision is for a world where performers and arts leaders with learning disabilities are valued as part of the rich diversity of our cultural sector and our society 💜

For instance, DIY Gamechangers ran an event to tackle healthcare inequality. We brought different people together to share ideas and experiences...

It combines strategic development, partnership building, fundraising support, and organisational advocacy with the artistic leadership of DIY’s established company of performers.

DIY members achieved a lot in a short time, and we'll be sharing highlights with you!

For instance, we worked with researcher Leigh Gardner to see what difference DIY Leaders leave behind after leading sessions...
..and the Gamechangers used creative methods to review this research in inclusive ways.

It was a chance to celebrate the difference they’ve made, but also to discover patterns in the data and compare this with their own experiences.

For instance, Artist Jade Williams and Gamechanger Becky co-led a really thoughtful Black History Month session with DIY Gamechangers.

We learnt about Black leaders through history who made a lasting impact - and explored the responsibility we have to understand and take action against racism.

For instance, Visual Arts and BUDS drama group got creative in response to work at Salford Museum & Art Gallery - and prepared a special sharing event.

We called this event 'The Magic of Colour', a fantastic day full of artwork, film, and live theatre!
