Here's the video of our first ever Blackley Shorts, performed on Saturday 29th August 2026 at Higher Blackley Community Centre. Written and performed by local people, celebrating our wonderful Blackley community!

We are so proud of everyone who took part, both onstage and behind the scenes. What an incredible project it has been!
Massive thanks to Arts Council England for funding the project and to Manchester City Council for their continued support.
If you were there on the night, please leave us a comment and tell us what you thought — your feedback will really help with our project evaluation.
Please watch and share the film far and wide. ❤️

Come, see the show,
It's the place to go
On a Saturday night
When the pennies are tight.

There's no charge, you see -
It's completely free!
You'll get fed as well
At the interval bell.

It's our first Blackley Shorts
Plays of all sorts
Some to make you ponder
About local history back yonder.

Others will make you grin
As onstage they begin
To act out their piece
Like they're shooting the breeze.

Let's celebrate our community
And it's amazing diversity
Remembering the past
Memories to last.

So, come on - get your tickets,
Hear our fantastic snippets
Of Blackley, past and present
It will be an evening absolutely well spent!
