Contact's Manifesto of Care - Contact

Manifesto: a public statement of beliefs, aims and policies. If you want to make , it helps to have a plan.

We're so proud of Contact's . To create this Manifesto, we started off by asking; ‘What would happen if we made care central to Contact?’

We talked about the meaning of care, and our Manifesto - made up of 6 guiding principles and a patchwork of promises - is informed by the work of writers and artists who have been thinking about care for a long time.

THAT'S A WRAP ON 2022 💥

Whew, what a year 2022 has been! We're over the moon to have kicked off the celebrations for our 50th birthday and to have come to the end of the first full year in our revamped castle on Oxford Road. In this remarkable year, we've also:

⭐Staged 277 shows, events and workshops across the venue
⭐Worked with 535 amazing participants through our projects
⭐Drank approximately 5982 cups of Yorkshire Tea
⭐Screened 39 football matches (all in the name of art)
⭐Secured our NPO status for the next 3 years
⭐ Filled 22,419 seats at our remarkable live performances
⭐Locked 1 poet in the building for 50 hours to write a 50 word poem
⭐Battled approximately 238 plastic balls in our life-size staff game of Hungry Hippos
⭐Launched The Pinch ticket scheme to improve accessibility to the arts
⭐Appointed a whole raft of talented staff, including our history-making new AD/CEO Keisha Thompson

And none of it would have been possible without YOU, our wonderful Contact family. Thank you, from the bottom of our hearts. ❤

Hey folks, hope you don't mind me popping up; I'm a Bolton-based theatre-maker studying an MA at Salford, alongside which I'm looking to make an experimental no-budget thriller film (probably in Atherton), with opportunities for a couple of young (16+) actors; if you know anyone who might be interested I'd love to hear from them for a bit more info and possibly a chat. cheers, mark www.markcreid.webs.com

FRAUDULENT ADVERT
I am receiving adverts from a Company called Red Coral who are supposedly selling extremely cheap Chinese Copies of Expensive Guitars. At Christmas I paid for one and the guitar NEVER arrived. The company then was known by the name Music Dream Factory and my Credit Card Company is investigating them. They are operating a FRAUD and should be prosecuted!

They change the name of the Company. This is the third incarnation that I have seen.
NEW WRITING OPPORTUNITY - MALTA

Are you a writer with a play you want to see realised?

Want your work performed on an international platform?

Toi Toi, Teatru Manoel’s Education Programme are looking for four new, previously unperformed one act plays which will come together under the umbrella title Breaking the Rules

Submissions are open and playwrights are invited to interpret the umbrella title in any way they wish as Toi Toi develop a brand new platform created to showcase emerging and established theatrical talent both at home and abroad.

See your work staged by passionate up and coming professional theatre-makers, all of whom have worked with Teatru Manoel’s team who in turn have been mounting theatre productions in one of Europe’s oldest working theatres.

CRITERIA
Pieces can be of any genre: comedy, drama, contemporary, period, but must take the form of a theatrical script with dialogue.
Across the four pieces we are looking at casting around twenty young performers
Characters within the piece can be of any gender but must be aged 15 – 30 years
Pieces must be complete as we will not be offering a writers-workshop or re-write period.
Pieces must be between 20 - 25 minutes long
Keep things technically minimal but feel free to set the piece in any period

Deadline for submissions: Friday 01 February 2019

The successful submissions will be staged in June 2019 in Teatru Manoels’ Studio Theatre.

Submissions in Word Doc format only to Ian Moore (TMYT Director) at [email protected]

Up the Bunting! Tuesday 17th and Wednesday 18th July, 8pm downstairs at Bar Pop, 10 canal Street, Manchester. It is a two hander comedy, and approximately an hour in duration.

'Hilarious...Excellent..Brilliant!' (North West End **** 4 stars)
'Cartwright's powerful but never OTT performance and comedic skill and Donald's more serious monologues were excellently judged' (Manchester Salon).

We are back by popular demand with an extended version for The Greater Manchester Fringe!

It's the local village fete and Colin is very excited! He just loves browsing the ‘bric-a-brac.’

This year, however, things are different!
Where has hook-a duck gone?
Why are there strange sounds coming out of a tent that wasn’t there last year?

Beyond the trestle tables and beneath the bunting things are…CHANGING!

Colin is about to have an encounter with the ‘force of nature' that is, Lisa that will perhaps change his life forever.

Back by popular demand, this compelling one act play ‘brings tears of laughter...inspired and original’

“The play is ultra-funny and poignant, evocative and heartfelt, delivered impeccably” Fran Gill. ‘The Bee Tree’

‘Excellent! With its poignant message of love, death, hope and magic’!
