One thing I nearly did at the beginning of the new year is permanently delete my DJ logo and start afresh by designing a brand new one. I’d just started to hate this one, for some reason.
I’m glad I changed my mind and stuck with it, though, as I’ve learned to love it all over again so it’s going nowhere hun.
I can’t wait for the next Forever Collective night on April 14th. I really enjoyed playing at the last one and I expect this one to be no different.

Last night was absolutely mint. Supposed to play a three hour set at but got a bit carried away and played an eight hour set instead!
It meant that I missed everything that was going on in the Basement but I didn’t care as I was having the most untold time upstairs.
Hopefully get to do it again at some point.

Behold, a new gig announcement and it's a sexy one for March 18th. My first time playing in Scotland, my first time playing in a castle, and my first time playing for Music is the Answer.
Even more so, my first time playing on the same lineup as the mighty wizard James Zabiela.
I'm not feeling very musical or feeling like myself at the minute, but pushing myself to try and have a quick mix before WWE Smackdown starts at 1am.
Have a nice and safe weekend, everyone; whatever you may be doing.
Apart from the obvious people who have me play for them, two people I’ve never thought to thank for things going up a notch in recent times are that pesky Jack Shingler and Peter Sweetman.
The reason being is that I used to DJ under my full name ‘Daz Manchild Smith’. Then they booked me for their new night at Stage & Radio in Manchester but inexplicably put me on the flyer as just ‘Manchild’.
It bugged me at the time as I was using my full name and it was too late for them to change the flyer, but the more I looked at it, the more I thought that maybe I should keep it. It was already a nickname and my middle name on here anyway, partially in homage to my love of Neneh Cherry and also as it suits my childish nature. It was just never meant to be my DJ name so took some getting used to.
I’m glad it happened now, though, as I genuine believe it played a big part in things changing for me, whether it was intentional or not. Things just picked up from then on, and even the Devoted lads kept saying I should shorten it when I was still with them. I was stubborn, though, and never listened to their advice when I should have.
To cut a long story short, I finally realised that it’s a cool as f**k name anyway. Hence why it then became my legal middle name and is even on my passport.

I’ve only played at Sunbird Records in Darwen twice but they are two nights I will never forget.
Sunbird Records, on The Circus in Darwen, has now closed after seven years in operation and the venue is now in the process of being stripped out.

Unfortunately due to a massive mix up in dates at my end with a gig I was already booked for (to be announced very soon), I will no be longer playing at @Forever Collective Forever Collective @Vision Nightclub Manchester headlined by Riaz Dhanani on November 4th. I'm gutted about it but I want to continue to push this event as it's going to be so good and I'm so grateful to have been asked to play. Massive thank you to Dinyad Alonzo for asking me to play in the first place but also for being so understanding and saying there will be other times. If you like your quality house/tech house, you need to jump on this. It will be worth it just to check out this amazing new venue alone, let alone the music, Riaz Dhanani and amazing local talent.
