Concentration levels were high at Art Basics class last night. The aim was to depict a still life image based on house plants. Everyone used white chalk and pencils to create a tonal drawing on top of black paper and then worked in reverse on the corresponding side, applying black lines to a white background. Certainly a challenge that everyone completed to a high standard. Next week colouring pencils!

Good bye David Hockney. Such an influential and inspiring British artist who will never be forgotten 🖌️

We are deeply saddened to learn of the death of David Hockney, one of the most influential and defining contemporary artists of the 20th century.

The Yorkshire-born painter’s seven-decade career was characterised not only by his groundbreaking paintings, but also by his pioneering multimedia approach to image-making.

He will be remembered as one of the most significant British artists of our time.

We are grateful to have had the opportunity to showcase his work at Aviva Studios through Lightroom and Bigger & Closer (not smaller & further away) in 2024 and 2025.

His work will continue to inspire audiences and artists for generations to come.

FYI everyone! If you are coming to an art class over the next few days, there are road works on part of Chadwick Road / Cromwell Road. It's a bit of a faff but it shouldn't affect getting to the studio.

It may be rainy and grey outside right now, but our studio garden is full of colour and joy! I hope you all get to enjoy it when you next visit. Also, does anyone know who has been eating our strawberry leaves? The last picture is evidence of someone taking a nibble!
