Ocean Deep

The contemplative and melancholic expression of the woman lying in her bed depicts the fourth stage of grief - depression. The background, reminiscent of the ocean, highlights the depth of grief we are capable of experiencing. Her hair flows and merges into the background as though she is melting into her bed, unable to get out of it. It captures the overwhelming nature of sorrow and the feeling of being engulfed by one's emotions.

This piece is called "Cliffside", inspired by Taylor Swift's song "Hoax" and the poignant lyrics, "Stood on the cliffside, screaming give me a reason. Your faithless love’s the only hoax I believe in." The first painting of the series captures the first stage of grief - denial. Despite the feelings of betrayal and sadness, there is an irresistible pull towards believing in an attachment that no longer serves you.
